Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

Average first innings score is 238 for last 10 ODI games...not sure how that fares in terms of teams chasing it down.

Another fifty for the #.

Our cricket would be nowhere without him!! He really is the batting backbone of this team. Pure class and possibly, a timely return to form!!! Augurs well.

Commentators were mulling on the same question, and they reckon 270 is a par score - but, as we know that that figure comes to mean zip if gale force is on song..

Yip, stating the obvious but getting him early is crucial!!!!

Edit: possibly the weakest bowling lineup SA has fielded in the last 3 seasons. Behardien is the type of bowler who can exploit this surface though. Today is the day he must cement his place in the team!! Abbott and Morkel could travel though. If the don't find their lengths early on we fcked. The extra pace will be neutralized by the surface and make them a pleasure to face. They mustn't become a pleasure to face.

Absolutely!!! He is our key batsmen in all formats (notice how he's led our batting inT20s too). Even in Tests he's carried well where Graeme Smith left off. He does well we do well. I said ss much that him&Philander were key for us in this CWC. Sadly Philander's not there so eve 7rpo from jere is with WI's reach.

I was pillorief for saying QDK would fail. Instead of acknowledging that guys have been focusing more on Farhaan&Parnell.

Fair dues, ZCF...it was a gamble that hasn't paid off for SA yet.

Good hand by Faf...50 in decent time. Batsmen trying to transfer pressure to the bowlers at the moment...let's see how WI deal.

Agreed. Seeing off the new ball is a fundamental duty of the opening batsman. Amla achieves that more often that not which aids those batting after him.

Where and who are "guys"?

Since this game has started there is only ONE mention of Behardien and none of Parnell.

Are you baiting for responses again?

I'm a QDK fan, but his not on form at the moment... who else do we have in the squad that would be better suited to open atm?

If we were to open with Riley, QDK could drop down but then we a bowler short. If Riley opens, QDK must sit out and AB keep. Alternatively open with Faf, AB at 3, QDK 6/7...

They've gone in with 5 bowlers only today...if it comes off, it might be tempting to bring Rossouw in at the top, drop QdK to 7 and Philander / Duminy back to replace Abbot / Behardien.

Both times I've seen QDK it looks like his job is to score some fast runs in the powerplay and for amla to just turn the strike. Obviously this is failing... QDK needs time at the crease, he doesn't look like a man with confidence. And he's a type of batsman that plays well when he's got confidence
