Who looks at economy in this day&age?

What was the Proteas' run rate early in this ODI and look where they ended? In most of Abbott's games they'd see him off for 4/5 and smash him later. Th eonly reason he's bowled and used to open is because he's only useful when batsmen are being watchful. Put him anywher else and he'll disppear. Just as he was when pulld out of the attack. Abbott got wickets, but he didn't bowl all that well. He wasn't bowling as well as Holder did against Amla & Faf+QDK.

Run rate is important if you are not dishing up the goods with wickets. An average of 30+ means that you can't afford a high economy rate. If Parnell had an average of 20 then I wouldn't look twice at his economy rate.

For Abbott, here is a quote from today "Amazing lengths from Abbott". I remember the last game where they were saying things like "On leg stump" and "wide" about Parnell's bowling.

I'm just so happy that the sabc aren't using their own commentators.
Long may this continue.

Ja nee, in limited overs run rate doesn't matter...

Wait till shezi has stats like Abbott, and we'll see if there'll be harder calls for him to be dropped or arguments that he's better than Parnell. ;)

"South Africa need to bowl West Indies out for 117 to register the biggest-ever win in ODIs, and for 150 to make it the biggest in World Cups"

Should get both easily from here.

You're clutching at straws here bud. I'm not manipulating anything. I can't manipulate tens of our players since the 90s just to accomodate Abbott. He's not good. Plain&simple.

The only thing that stick out here is that Abbott has been so pathetic in tests & ODIs, he's had a few good overs and all of a sudden his defenders are longer than the Nile.

It's a pity the likes of Parnell&Farhaan can never get this when they come right, even though their moments of mediocrity never come close to Abbott's!

Hahahahaha, Sure you aren't ;)
