Who looks at economy in this day&age?
What was the Proteas' run rate early in this ODI and look where they ended? In most of Abbott's games they'd see him off for 4/5 and smash him later. Th eonly reason he's bowled and used to open is because he's only useful when batsmen are being watchful. Put him anywher else and he'll disppear. Just as he was when pulld out of the attack. Abbott got wickets, but he didn't bowl all that well. He wasn't bowling as well as Holder did against Amla & Faf+QDK.
Run rate is important if you are not dishing up the goods with wickets. An average of 30+ means that you can't afford a high economy rate. If Parnell had an average of 20 then I wouldn't look twice at his economy rate.
For Abbott, here is a quote from today "Amazing lengths from Abbott". I remember the last game where they were saying things like "On leg stump" and "wide" about Parnell's bowling.
