Machan to Mathews, SIX, and Mathews earns the second-fastest World Cup fifty this tournament with another attempted slam over midwicket which has enough on it to reach over the rope

Can he make it five for five?

Machan to Mathews, OUT, and Mathews, looking to make it 31 runs for the over with yet another six over midwicket, this time holes out as the bowler lobs up another hit-me ball which falls to the fielder inside of the boundary, who takes it well enough not to back-peddle onto the rope

AD Mathews c Coleman b Machan 51 (21b 1x4 6x6) SR: 242.85

Not against the Scots, ye cannot!

Teams are learning. Get rid of Sanga, Dilshan, Mahela plus Mathews, and you've dealth with SL, especially when Chandimal is unavailable. Then there's the small matter of Herath&Malinga, but at least more than half the battle would've been won. Kulasekara can have a Boult&Starc-like bowling performance, but they are as frequent as Morkel's nowadays so not a consistent threat.

Not really. Technically he's batting 3 courtesy of QdK :D but his mindset hasn't entirely shifted because he doesn't bat naturally when he comes in. It's either a 50SR or a 150SR, not run a ball like Sanga, Kohli, Amla etc. He's losing that balance and I feel he'll get it back by taking up the discipline to open&build, or be similarly responsible when one falls early. To be honest if our AB had the approach of those three, we wouldn't be struggling to chase down IND&PAK, as there'd be a healthier foundation for JP, Miller, Faf etc to work with.

Gee you can talk ***, do you ever stop to check the facts before you post?

He has scored 317 from 205 balls at 154 coming in at 4 or 5 at fall of wicket average around 80. His lowest SR is 69 of course when he was out cheaply, just like others' SR at that point in score.

He scored 77 out of 53 trying to chase down Pak with no batting left...so the struggling was not his doing

I have a strong feeling that the Scots will! upset the Sri Lankans

Sri Lanka 363/9 (50.0 ov)

364 is easily obtainable.

You try tooo hard OzzieCapie. No need to seek me out and argue everything out. We all watch AB and when the heat is on he bats at a sub 60SR for the most part of his innings. Don't let his ability to play catch-up fool you, because that doesn't mean significant pressure hasn't been invitied already. After all the whole partnership would have suffered, and ultimately the team as a result. 40 off 40 is better than 25 off 40, then on to 50 off 50. The risk of falling while striking at over 200 while trying to play catchup is higher, than simply battign at a run-a-ball, because the nett result will still be a 100 SR. ;)

I simply do not understand why AB won't open or bat at 3. Just look at Sanga go(4hundreds in a row?). SL's best batsman batting so high hasn't weakened SL it's made them stronger and reach finals ahead of better&deeper batting orders.

You don't f u c k with the one thing that is going well for the team.

Don't fix it if it ain't broke. I get it.

But.... it depends on one's definition of well. We say he takes the game away form the opposition, but if you've had a look at the stats, the advantage he adds from there doesn't change the result much when we win, because we often have enough considering the opposition's struggles to chase. However, he's often powerless to prevent a loss when it matters - has never been not out or scored big consistently in those scenarios. Ultimately we are wasting AB de Villiers. I wonder how long it will be before one of the Cricinfo statisticians does an article on him for the ODIs. There's been countless articles about it on T20s, but not enough on ODIs. Just polite comments like "he's coming in too low".

By consoling ourselves with the notion that he puts the target beyond the reach of our opposition, we are essentially relegating AB de Villiers to a psychological cane. Which would be fine if we were flawless ourselves in the exact same situations. So in totality it more than negates or nullifies the notion we seek to spread.

Vimukthi Adithy: "Dilshan just bowled an over in 79 Seconds.. What is the fastest time taken to complete an over?"

I think the Scots stand a chance of a smaller D/L margin defeat if soft overs are being generously given my SL in the interest of ensuring a result. :D
