Official ICC 2015 CWC thread

i think we have a better shot against Aus than india.
Would love a SA - Aus final.
Im not really that scared of NZ, dont know why...

We're used to beating NZ.
In the 1992 WC they beat us and we beat the Aussies easily.

They thumped us in the pre-World Cup warm-up match, and Tahir went for 52 runs and 0 wickets, in 7 overs. Other bowlers were expensive as well. Dale Steyn didn't play, though, but he's not even our best bowler at the moment anyway.

That's what worries me. :erm:

Do you think it is remotely possible that they were holding back, from what we saw in the last game?

Stop being so negative! Man for Man, we can easily match up to NZ.

A place in the final beckons!

It may be that we just weren't fired up, perhaps. You are right, vs Sri Lanka we were a different beast. I really hope that carries over to the semi final.

I still maintain NZ peaked way to early, they are due for an off day, and sadly for them, that is going to come in the semi final.

How many of the NZ players would be good enough to make the SA team?

Looks like one is looming.

:D

Yes, typical Afridi innings.

1) Exactly on his all time average of 23
2) Three 4's and a miskewed 6...18/23 bit above his all time average of 14/23

Absolutely no responsibility when required. Never has he shown that. When it has come off, everybody hails him, but drill into the stats and he is a slogger that would not have played 400 games if not for the spin he provides.

Yet he is said to be better than AB who often shows restraint when necessary, is able to manufacture shots to everywhere...not wild slogs, and often starts 'slow' (first 30 of 162 was about 20 balls out of 62)

Being realistic, not negative dude. I was just stating facts, which unfortunately don't point in our favor.

your realism was wrong in the QF against SL, come on mate, I'm not saying go out and start shouting " we will win the world cup", Just don't go in with a defeatist mentality.

I was thinking about it this morning and I tend to agree.

In previous editions of WC's SA started like a house on fire and would go into the knockouts as one of the best teams from the group stage, only to have a **** performance.

this has been different, we played our best cricket when it mattered and that has given me so much more belief in this team.
