I've been on one of the 5.0.2 roms for a while but the rom is very buggy. The flashlight goes on randomly, the alarm didn't work yesterday, it freezes for periods of time... the official rom can't come soon enough.

Yay! Been running CM12 on my S2 for about a week now and it's seriously awesome.
Been waiting for a stable-ish version for the G2, which hopefully should happen soon now.
Nothing on the changelog site yet though, matter of time I guess: http://www.cmxlog.com/12/

I'm not even sure now to be honest. It was one of the first ones to come out but it had been like a month or so and I figured it should be stable.

Think I'm going to flash CM12 tonight.
Where can I get the CM12 for S2, I would like to try it out? My S2 is very slow nowadays and and it's has not been rooted.

Hm I'm now struggling to get back into recovery mode from the Experimental rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-0-lg-g2-t2944269)
The normal button press doesn't work or takes me to a hard reset screen and I don't want to press the power button to perform the hard reset.

That hard reset screen is normal. Just hit the power button twice to confirm and it'll take you to the recovery.
EDIT: I mean, it won't reset anything.

First CM12 nightly is perfect so far, haven't noticed any issues and it's fast!

Agreed.
It's blazingly fast.
The only thing that I have noticed it when I make a call, I don't get the dialing sound while waiting for the call to connect, which throws me off a little.
Other than that, it's fantastic.

Anyone else have a problem with the google apps? Hangouts and google services crashes and I can't update anything from the play store, it just doesnt want to connect.
Other than that it seems cool so far.

Nope, all gapps working good here. Which gapps package did you use?
Noticed two issues so far:
1. Pedometer doesn't seem to be working.
2. Activating the flash and then trying to use the camera restarted my phone.
