I watched the whole thing on MotD again. The defender definitely catches him - twice - but the way Young went down was appalling.
He is the league's leading penalty winner. (No jokes, saw the stats lying around somewhere, will see if I can dig them up again)
The problem I've got with "winning penalties" is players that drag their legs to force contact. If you plant a wooden pole in the penalty area and players comes running along, dabs the ball to the left of the pole, sticks his leg out to trip himself up on the pole and goes down. Is that a penalty?
If there is contact then its a penalty. I don't understand that. If the defender doesn't put a foot in ie makes an actual challenge on the attacking player how can he foul him.
Not really interested in a lengthy debate about the Young incident, just thought I'd add my 2 cents on penalties in general.
Check this out.
It's not a right or wrong situation for me.
2 games in a row that ManU disappoint me....
I had them for a 5-0 today on Superbru.![]()
Yeah that's pretty much what he says in it.
Manchester United have fended off Europe's big guns to be named the world's richest club for an eighth year in a row.
Giggs has had 5 ( FIVE )penalty decisions in 20yrs .
Modern day footballers are the pits !
On the football pitch, that guy is class.
Off the pitch, I'm sure he got a red card at home.
Haha, probably got a 9 match-bedroom ban![]()
He's lucky he wasn't fined. If he was he would have lost 50% of his stuff![]()
