isn't his job to be behind the play? I am sure he is there to allow the other players in front of him to be more creative and not having to worry about losing posession because there is Carrick covering. Carrick also seems to be able to pick up the ball and ge the forward thinking players flowing again with one pass.

I'm not a Man U fan but I think he is an unsung hero in the United midfield

When the guy starts winning awards, getting nominated for awards and getting praised by most professionals in the game then you should probably realise your evaluation of him is wrong.

I know how the English can punt the average player (esp if Fergie endorses it). Fergie has his fav's and no matter what, better players wont get a look in over the fav's

He's a defensive mid. Cleverley plays in a more advanced position. The fact that you can't differentiate between the two speaks volumes about why you don't rate Carrick - you don't understand the game.

Also, your 'passes not finding their man' comment gave me a chuckle.

i thought i dbecks knew his stuff until that comment

clevs hasnt been used of late cause of giggs kagawa rooney and everyone taking up the more advanced cm position

but yeah dbecks is very very wrong
 
And this is why I say Carrick is always something or the other depending on what exhonerates him - CM CAM CDM - If he isnt attacking, he is a CDM, if he isnt defending he is a CM....excuse after excuse

Fact is, he is just average and doesnt do much

He is is a deep-lying midfielder. Plain and simple. He sits in front of the defence, disrupting attacking moves and recovering possession from his defenders/the opposition, at which point he then distributes the ball (with near flawless accuracy) to United's more attack minded players. He is the point at which opposing attacks die and where United's attacks are born.

Fact is he is responsible for more passes than any other United player in any given game, so how he can be accused of doing nothing I do not know. Just because he isn't tormenting defences and slamming home 30-yard rockets on the regular does not mean he isn't playing a his part.

I don't even bother anymore, cos anything that has Carrick in is just average! Stats won't prove it, winning the League won't prove it, injury to him doesn't prove it... Carrick is nothing to dbecks
 
Thankfully dbecks is retiring cos he's starting to talk crap... Lol... Carrick: Players player of the year and voted into the PL team of the year by professionals.. Carrick has been a revelation this season and showed why we spent 20 mil on him from spurs those years ago.. He has been very average until this season.. Hope his form continues till next season.. Hope moyes buys a defensive hardman to partner Carrick..
