He is the father of the Chelsea nation. It is sacrilege to speak as you do. BURN HEATHEN!!!!

What am I supposed to do? United has the most bandwagon jumpers, so this thread is obviously the busiest. Wait til next season - the Chelsea thread will be chockablock full. ;)

what chickens? United already played 4 matches without ronaldo... they can cope without Ronaldo this season as they have coped when all those big players left/got booted ;)

EIsh looks like City will be without Ade, Robinho, Tevez... who next :D

You judging a season based on 4 matches>? :D

Nobody is saying that United will be incapable of winning matches or competing for silverware.

It is just very evident the void Ronaldo has left in the team. You must be blind if you cannot see it.

I am enjoying Rooney stepping up. However, as i said - its 4 games, the season is still very very long.

Point is, you cannot deny what Ronaldo brought to the team. That something special that made United become CL winners, League winners. They had that fear factor.

They lost a bit of that fear factor.

Maybe so but three points in the bag and we will be back and better as the comp continues.

Rooney always wants to play; frustrated as a lone striker (surrounded by a very loud crowd); having scored a hatrick last time he played Turkish opposition- Let him vent i say (rather see a player unhappy to come off then one playing with one bumcheek on the bench):)

"They have not lost yet, so they will come to Old Trafford with a lot of confidence. It will be an amazing game and it is a big challenge. I hope we are ready."

Former United striker Carlos Tevez is a major doubt to play, but if he does turn out for City following his summer switch, Evra has joked he will boo the Argentinean - who is a good friend - if the United supporters do.

"I have been joking with him about the reception he will get," said Evra.

"I don't know if the fans will boo him or clap him. He did a great job at Manchester United. He respected the shirt and the fans understand that.

"But if they boo him I will join in."

No favours

While Evra hopes his friend will play, he insists that Tevez will get no special favours.

"I have had a message from him saying they are going to win. I am not so sure," said Evra.

"I just hope he plays. It will be special to play against him because he is such a good friend.

"But he is a City player now and we cannot let him beat Manchester United."

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned

Silva: United move would be a golden opportunity

Valencia and Spain star David Silva has given fresh momentum to reports linking him with a transfer to Manchester United by claiming that a move to England would be "hard to resist".

Silva, 23, was reported to be a target for both United and Liverpool over the summer but surprisingly stayed at Valencia, along with David Villa, despite the Spanish club's crippling financial problems.

The winger has started the new season in impressive form, scoring the opening goal in Valencia's 4-2 win over Valladolid on September 13, and it is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson remains an admirer of the Euro 2008 winner.

While Silva is committed to Valencia at present, he has hinted that the chance to move to Old Trafford would hold a strong appeal in the future.

"It's an honour for any player that a club of the prestige of Manchester United should follow them and that in itself is enormous praise," Silva said in the Daily Mirror.

"I am committed to Valencia and my dream is to win the title but in the future anything is possible. Valencia have rejected offers for me in the past few months and I am happy here. But I also know that the Premier League is a big competition and hard to resist."

W00t! With him able to slot anywhere in the midfield United will be a force to contend with in the CL! Pity he won't move this January :(

We shoulda got him in this transfer window...

He would have been way too expensive. Don't worry though - the next one will be a piece of cake. No Real spending, no Chelsea spending (w00t w00t - youth FTW) so the transfer market will be a little calmer. Unless Man City decide to further strengthen which I don't reckon will happen.
