When you Fans going to wake up to the fact
team you supported was Alec Ferguson's Manchester United he managed to get the best out of some real mediocre players
and made it plain you play my way or the highway. Down the years he bought some very poor players and let go some dam good ones. Made bad decisions, but got away with it 90% of the time. The house he built had some cracks but he was able to cover them up now major problems at this club and his choice of replacing him is another Fergie bad decision. You only have to look at his body language to see not up to this job. Far to many of the present players are average

Smalling, Cleverly, Jones, Fellaini
quite a few others in the mix

you need a Manager with a clear vision Moyes just don't have one summing him up a clueless twat.
 
In Fergies mind and the mind of many a UTD fan , i would think that UTD did not mind losing to City, as long as it ensures Liverpool don't win the league. Its painful, but the ray of sunshine is that its a blue team and not a red team from Merseyside that has risen to the top after such a long wait....


If Liverpool have the football gods smile down on them and they do manage to steal the title , i am pretty sure it would send Fergie to his grave.

I woke up to the fact that United had been carried by its manager two years ago. Can't preach to me about the dearth of quality at the club. I'd go as far as to say the current squad, talent-wise, is befitting of a scrap with Spurs and Everton for 5th and if it was better prepared tactically it could maybe press for 4th.

Irrespective of the squad, it should still be more than good enough for top 3/4, having won the league easily enough the previous season. Anything less is the manager...

• First sign of open revolt against Moyes' managership
• Defeat guarantees fewest points in Premier League era

Manchester United supporters vented their anger at the former manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of the shambolic 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford. In the first signs of open revolt at David Moyes, fans furiously questioned Ferguson's decision to appoint the Scot as his replacement.

With Moyes also receiving verbal abuse from supporters and stewards being asked to guard "The Chosen One" banner that hangs at the stadium's Stretford End after the 167th Manchester derby, the ire shown towards Ferguson, who is a club director, will cause serious questions at boardroom level.

Moyes has consistently spoken of how the support has stood by him throughout his overseeing of a dismal title defence. This defeat guarantees United will end with their poorest ever points tally in the Premier League era, with their previous lowest being 75.

City took only 43 seconds to take the lead through Edin Dzeko, who also scored again in the 56th minute, before Yaya Touré sealed United's humiliation with a third for City at the end. That provoked fans to target Ferguson as he sat in the directors' box at the final whistle.

The 72-year-old was the driving force in Moyes being appointed as his successor at the end of last season, with the former Everton manager being summoned to Ferguson's house to be offered his job.

While the loss made it six home defeats in the league for the first time since the 2001-2 season to leave United 18 points behind the leaders, Chelsea, and 12 from a Champions League berth, Moyes refused to blame his players. Asked to explain how a squad minus only the retired Paul Scholes has gone so far backwards this year after winning the title by 11 points, the manager said: "I take responsibility. I have to be the one who plays them, picks them and that is what it is. I think there are a lot of really good players there, some can play better, but there are a lot of really good players in the squad, a lot of international players and players who I think on their day can be a match for most players."

Of the defeat to City, which means they have now been defeated by their city rivals three consecutive times at Old Trafford in the league for the first time in more than 40 years, Moyes said: "We never gave ourselves a great opportunity to get into the game. Manchester City started really fast and conceding a goal after 30-40 seconds made it difficult. We had to try and make sure we got through that 10-15 minute period. After that we weathered it and got ourselves back into the game and finished the half quite strong. The key to it was not to concede a second goal so we could always give ourselves a chance [to get] back in there.

"I didn't think we started the second half well. We brought pressure on us by our play and in the end we conceded a corner just before that and there was another one and then that led to the second goal. It was obviously poor marking and we should have done much better.

"I just think we never came out of the blocks. You prepare the players, you warm them up, you do all the things to have them ready but we just never started. It gave them a real big lift to get a goal so early on."

In a comment that may further anger fans, Moyes stated that City are the side he wants his United team to emulate. "I think we've played a very good side and it's the sort of standard and level we need to try and aspire to get ourselves to at this moment in time," he said.

City are now only three points behind Chelsea with two games in hand. Yet Manuel Pellegrini refused to concede that it is his team's title to lose. "No I don't think so," said the manager. "The title race continues, we continue fighting with all the other three – Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. We have two games postponed but we have to win those two games. Tomorrow I start thinking about Arsenal [who City visit on Saturday] and then I think about the end of the season."

I've said it 3 matches ago -> MOYES OUT!

Tired of the 0 improvements from Moyes, United players are still static, Welbeck only knows to occupy Rooney/RVP space when his positioned as a left winger.
The need for Moyes to keep playing Cleverley, Welbeck, Mata on the right wing, Kagawa on the left wing and now Felliaini on CAM instead of Kagawa...

Juan Bernat or Luke Shaw? Or will it be a case of whichever one Chelsea doesn't buy?

Also, what would be the reaction to Moyes going back to Everton for Phil Jags? They will need an experienced CB that still has his legs, that there is no denying. At 31 he probably has 2 solid seasons or so left in his legs, but that should be enough time for Moyes to see if Smalling, Jones & Evans are viable as long-term CBs.

OR, do you sign two new deep-lying midfielders that will do a better job of shoring up the middle and thus protect the backline and just dump Jones/Smalling/Evans in there and say ''swim''?

Thinking outside the box here;

3 - 5 - 2

Sign Mats Hummels, William Carvalho, Adam Lallana and Arturo Vidal. That should be doable based on their transfer values and the sum Moyes is reported to get.

3-man backline;

Hummels, a left-footer, fills in as the LCB. He has the footballing abilities not often associated with a centreback, is adept at playing in space and he has mobility that defies his frame, so theoretically he could cope if tasked with covering the outside of a 3-man defence in the absence of a traditional fullback.

Evans slots in as the CB, the anchor of the back-3.

Jones fills in as the RCB. As someone that has also played as a RB he should have no problems moving out wide if needs be to cover the area where a traditional fullback would be. As a decent midfielder, he also knows how to play in space as well.

5-man midfield;

Unlike Juve, which uses a deep-lying playmaker and two industrious CMs in a vee-formation, this formation will utilise two deep-lying midfielders with a trio of attacking midfielders pushed ahead. A 2-3 midfield formation if you will. Carvalho and Vidal will sit deep, with Carvalho the more defensive of the two. Carvalho can and has played as a centreback as well, so when out of possession or overloaded, he could join the backline. Vidal is one of the more complete footballers in world football, attacking, tackling and passing with aplomb. He would be the engine of the 3-5-2, transitioning it from defence to attack and it is a formation he is familiar with at Juventus. Both should also combine to form a near impregnable barrier ahead of the back-three.

Then the attacking trio of the 5-man midfield; Zanuzaj (LW), Mata (CAM) and Lallana (RW).

2-man strike force;

If he's still up for it, RVP partnered by Wayne Rooney. Rooney will sit slightly behind RVP.

This one is out there for sure but I reckon it could produce some beautiful football while being pretty solid defensively.

But, a stat I also read- Moyes picked his 46th different starting eleven in the derby on Tuesday. That lack of continuity is terrible.

I read (cant remember where) , that Moyes trained a 4-4-2 formation the entire week leading up to the City game. He then picked a 4-3-3 and 5 minutes into the game quickly tried to change that back to a 4-4-2 but with the wrong personnel. He then brought on Kagawa at half time in an attempt to change the formation properly despite having Valencia strip down twice in the first half. Words cant describe the averageness of Moyes.

Good team, but lacking in width. Something Juve countered by having Asamoah and Lichtensteiner as the "wingers" in their setup.
