plane to fly over Old Trafford on Saturday trailing an anti-Moyes message. The message will read 'Wrong One: Moyes Out' in answer to 'The Chosen One' banner which continues to fly inside the stadium despite heavy home defeats to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City in the past month. Stewards have recently been deployed to guard the banner, which references the fact Moyes was hand-picked for the job by Sir Alex Ferguson. United are already guaranteed their lowest Premier League points total and host Aston Villa on Saturday in seventh place, 18 points behind leaders Chelsea less than a year after winning the title. Moyes can expect more criticism if Villa leave with anything, but the visitors' manager Paul Lambert has called the planned plane stunt "extreme". He said: "I think some of the criticism is way over the top, I really do. If you are talking about flying an aeroplane over the stadium with a message to say you are not wanted, it is a bit extreme. "I think the magnitude of the job is huge. Only David can truly tell you about that, but from the outside looking in, it is a massive, massive job. "It is not as if he is standing out there and thinking 'things are not going well, but I still feel good'. He is human like everybody else and whenq you get that level of criticism it would not be nice." Moyes' pre-match press conference is scheduled for 1.30pm this afternoon, when he is expected to face questions about the protest and United's poor form.

I've never commented in this thread as I don't really care about Man Utd. However, I have to say what the fans are doing to Moyes is absolutely disgraceful. I think it is a clear sign that Utd honestly have plastic fans, who chase glory. You should never treat a manager this way, regardless of how bad his first season has been.

The minority causing trouble always get the lime light, majority of the fans have been brilliant. Every semi successful club has plastic fans

The fans, are the ones that have to pay out of their pockets to watch United play. If the fans are not allowed to speak their minds, then it represents a problem in the club's perception of them.

I do agree with you, BTW. I just also have sympathy for the match-going fans, who have to put up with some of the at times horrid football that United have served up this season.

This. Even during the defeat to Liverpool, the United fans were still singing and chanting. The minority that do act negatively, are always given more prominence.

My sentiments exactly when I read that article.

Also, displays like this at home, within the stadium, do not help the manager or the players. Fan sentiment can indeed be felt by the players. I'm not saying silently sit and watch the toss served up after having thrown a few hundred quid at the club, but just think before you go and tear banners down and spread negative messages throughout the stadium.

Honestly don't know why Moyes signed him. He is one of the dirtiest players in the league, sure you could get a much much better midfielder for less.

He's an idiot, but sometimes they mature. He's actually been quite good since he came back from injury. The City game he was anonymous except for the dirty play though.

Talking about raucous fans, who remembers the way the Chelsea ones behaved with Benitez :D , hopefully United dont reach those levels

If I remember right Hodgson had quite a hard time as well. Arsenal has also had their fair share.
As it was said it happens all over, rather unfair to brand United fans plastic. Most fans are fickle. Irrespective of all the **** OT has been served this season the team has never left the field to resounding boos.

For the most part the majority of United fans were amazing. I think it is only because SAF asked so nicely.

Indeed, not sure why F1 Fan felt the need to single out United fans as plastic. As you pointed out, Liverpool fans practically ran Hodgson out , and remember this is Hodgson during December, United fans have been far more patient with Moyes, perhaps they are less plastic than Liverpool fans? :p

I agree, it can happen at any club, perhaps football fans in general are plastic.

Hodgson wasn't "The Chosen One." He was happy with a draw/loss at home against Bolton, we lost to Wolves at home and were only 3 points above the relegation zone. Hodgson is not a top level manager and we saw that and cut him short before he did even more damage. He signed Poulsen and Konchesky and let Kanclanclic go to Fulham as part of that Konchesky deal. Hodgson was not good enough end of story. I don't think we were unjustified in asking for him to leave. We lost to League 2 side Northampton in the FA Cup and had our worst start to a season in over half a century.

It leaves them just three points above the relegation zone.

Pretty much exactly how i feel about Moyes. Hes broken all kinds of records himself.

Liverpool fans can't be plastic, they have one only one champions league in 20 years.

Can anyone enlighten us as to what position Liverpool was in when he was fired?

Benitez was booed because of his connection to Liverpool. End of story.
