exactly buddy ,Look at Ngog if that kid had been english with his ability we would have paid 20m for him and we only paid 1.3-1.5m for him

english players are overhyped to quickly by the media ,the only World class english players I think that deserve their praise is Gerrard ,Lampard,Terry,Owen when he was healthy ,Scholes (in his heyday) ,I think Rooney could become world class but needs more time

Just to make my point Barcelona paid Arsenal 16m pounds for Prolly the Greatest Epl player (Henry) ,that same season Spurs Bought Darren Bent for 16m pounds from Charlton

Another example Manure buys Ronaldo aged 18 for 12m (he goes on to fulfill his potential by becoming the best player in the world ,they buy Rooney aged 18 for a record 28m and he still hasnt fulfilled his supposedly great potential taking into consideration that ronaldo is only 10months older than Rooney

The hyping up was the problem - making him out to be the best in the world when he was still a kid. I still say United would not have won most of the things they have in the past few seasons without him.

sorry hj i have watched most to all of manure matches the last couple of years and me thinks you looking for a Silver lining there Not a single match pops into my head which makes me think ."ya rooney totally dominated that team" ,If you had said Ronaldo ,then I would have agreed but because the boy is leaving your club nobody seems to want to give him the credit anymore

I'll tell you something if Fergie doesnt play rooney like Capello plays him as a proper striker and not a 2nd striker then he will not score as many goals

look at his england record since Capello took over with him playing as a proper striker

Yep. The only other rule that EUFA can add is that at least a certain portion of players must be from the Academy (eg: played at that club for 2 years prior to 16 years of age) which would give the big clubs even greater power because they would poach players from ever younger age groups from abroad (Barca and certain pale, medically challenged Argentinian wonderkid springs to mind) and then ship them off to other clubs from the age of 16, as opposed to shipping htme out from 18-21.

The more you try and regulate, the more you allow the big boys to get bigger. When the FA instituted that God-awful rule about poaching from lther areas, the London clubs just changed direction. They bought foreign talent instead of looking for English talent.

I remember reading two scouts talking about this problem. Both Chelsea and Tottenham wanted Owen, but couldn't get him due to the stupid rules. Now people blame Chelsea for the lack of talent, but while Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have a very limited base to take players from, Mnchester and Liverpool have a much larger base. I could go on, but I'm getting incoherent.

Bollocks. You are sorely lacking in a decent right back. Johnson would have at least given you that. What you are not lacking in is midfielders of Valencia's quality. Park is much better than Valencia (imnsho). Comparing the players like that is just rubbish. You're better than that. I'm just trying to keep you on the straight and narrow

Hahaha, your logic is sound and you are correct that we could use a right back rather than another average midfielder. I am no fan of Valencia, but Johnson is worse than average IMO. Different positions or not, I would still prefer to have Valencia. If he keeps Nani and Anderson on the bench, I am happy.

I dunno hey... he might be a bit of a duffer at the back, but then againb - you have really world class centre backs to mop up any potential damage he could do. What you do need is an attacking threat on the right hand side coming in from deep (no, I don't mean Wayne Ronney). That is why it's really confusing why you wouldn't go for him. As I said - his defensive capabilities are really bad, but then again Boswinger is crap as well - but he more than makes up for it when he goes into the middle/final third.

I'm just wondering if the apparent faith placed in Da Silva is good enough. It's not like a midfielder/attacker who can have a bit of a bad run and still be considered top-notch (eg: Henry)... If a defender makes a mistake he is trounced by all and sundry - this isn't even taking into account his mental status as knowing "I am the one who let my team lose". When that team is Manchester United and the boy only 18/19 (not sure about that) it just seems like too much pressure. Then again, Fergie has more insight into that aspect of his players.
