that sounds like the whole game again! cant search steam from work but google a bit and you might find help.

Hey there, I just noticed Steam is downloading an 8gig update for MW2. I cant find any links as to what it includes? When I click "view details" on the download it just links me to the MW2 news page and the news there is from a few days back regarding PS3 DLC etc, nothing about a PC update. I didnt buy either of the DLC's. Are we getting new maps(without having purchaced a dlc), or is this just a client update? Or is it just me, and maybe my files where corrupted and its fixing itself...?

I have had that happen to me twice! Stop the download, reinstall steam & MW2, then update...

My guess now for a fresh install of MW2 will be about 800 to 900mb update (if you have purchased both DLC map packs)

yes, I think it is best to backup the game in steam after the download of the new update and dlc, just to avoid having to download it all over again, when you re-install
 
Well, my 2c worth. I'm stil new ( lvl 22 ) to mw2 and still suck at it, BUT i enjoy the game and the ppl complaining about steam and dedicated servers.....boohoo.... Im still lmfao to the few and the proud who refuse to play or buy the game. As for these guys with the knives....damn ppl....give a guy a break...lol

Dude that is a sorry excuse really. Ive never had to wait in all my 25days game time for a game. Thats why you have a friends list and a steam group with over 2000 people on so you can add to your friends list.

Funny thing is last night even with all the steam issues and seacom issues there were more people online on my friendslist than on BC2 on all their servers combined. I was playing BC2 at that time and i found that very interesting.
 
Thats strange. Steam only downloaded 164MB for me. That was multiplayer, didn't notice single player.
 
I left it download since last night. I hope its resolved when I get home today!

Another day without Resurgence...Mapathy is killing me.
 
FFS... got home, started playing with the buds, went to answer the my gate intercom... came back & steam had lost connection... that was me out for the rest of the night!

Know the feeling bud! I am also unable to connect. I want to dl the new map packs but unable to get into steam to do this... :(

Oh well, will keep trying!
 
The new AlterIWNet client gets released in two days ....... new maps included.

AlterIWNet whats that a steam workaround?, IWNet is such a pain, looking forward to Black - Ops with Dedicated servers:) 4 months to go
 
I tried to play AlterIWNet last night, but could not find any games :( ...
Ja, Slaughter, I was pissed at it, got the new maps previous night, now I cant play !!!

unfortunately you still have o work with the shyt IW system, but local pings FTW, hopefully the next releases fixes it :D
