Official NOKIA N8 thread

really!maybe i should try it again,i will take a vid this time,but i don't promise!
 
I love my S^3 Nokia N8! Still waiting for Anna update though.. Only problem is it's not Dark Grey (Silver - Vodacom Contract) ..

Does anyone know if Vodacom will be getting the other colours for this phone? Dark Grey, Blue, Pink, Green, Orange ???

Oh, Probably goning to be my last Nokia Phone if all they have is Windows Nokia when my upgrade comes around...

not sure , so far i dont think anyones got any clours besides dark grey and silver
 
Hey N8 owners...been having an issue with my N8. So basically do any of you guys or gals have problems with the phone hanging up while your on a call? I know the phone is supposed to lock the screen when you answer a call, and mine does it at first, but if i move or shift my head while talking on the phone i think my screen unlocks and my head touches the hang up "button". Just want to know if its a common problem or if my sensor is crapping out...its really annoying. What seems to work is after i answer or make a call to hard lock it using the side lock button...
 
Ja, that's hugely irritating. I've actually learned to keep the phone at an angle so that it doesn't touch my face while on a call. It seems like the screen does black out when the proximity sensor detects your face but that it doesn't switch off the touch panel at the same time.

nope doesnt ever happen on my n8 though my wife has a similar problem wither her x6,

I've had the same issue with my N8...

The proximity sensor locks (switches off the touch panel) the screen so it is inactive but it is only sensitive to a certain distance (not sure what it is in mm but google it...)...
 
I had a similar problem with my N8 - then discovered that it doesn't happen if you take it out of its jacket.
I've since bought a better / "approved" jacket.

The problem I have is that the Anna update will be available a few months before I start looking towards my next phone :mad: What the eff is taking them so long???

Highly irritating if you ask me. Should have been released Jan/feb latest, and now they talking about Q3? Comon Nokia, that's ridiculous. Android/iOS can release all their updates frequently and on schedule and here nokia hasn't released it about +6 months after it was said to be released.

It may be a stalling tactic.
The release of their Wphones is not too far from now, so they would rather you purchase one of those....

My Nokia, on PR1.2 is doing very well.
No staility or usability issues yet.

Even installed WeatherHD 1.01 on it.
Works a charm.

I'm totally happy with the device, but being somewhat of a 'tech-junkie' I like updates/new features that I can explore..
 
I've never really had time to browse through the whole ovi store, so when it comes to cool apps I'm a bit behind.

Got this sweet app (even though it's a trial version): http://store.ovi.com/content/91705?clickSource=search
It basically allows you to control your media player with your phone via Bluetooth, which is awesome for me when connecting my laptop to the tv to watch stuff.
Was thinking of buying but who wants to buy (joking :p), I saw this http://store.ovi.com/content/93814 seems to be more added features as it's possible to control slides. This version only connects through Wi-Fi which I've just had a troublesome time trying to set it up & it still can't find the server.

Any other cool apps out there?

Seems to work fine, remember to back-up first since it's not from the ovi store

Okay, so my N8 (that was working perfectly since I got it), has all of a sudden died.
As in totally bricked.
No dodgy firmware, programs - plain official software from Nokia.

Was on a phonecall, when all of a suuden it switched off. I tried switching with no avail. The charging light won't come on when plugged in.
Nothing, no matter what I do, will make it switch on.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how long did it take Nokia to fix/swop?
This is my only phone, so will Nokia provide a loan phone whilst it is in for repais (it's still under warranty and only 3 months old)?

:(
