Official : Overwatch thread

Had one placement match where the team balance was so off, we couldn't even move the cart on Gibralter, they just pinned us in the base. No team members grouping up regardless of calling for it.
That was followed by 3 matches where nobody took tanks or healers at all. Only me, but I cant play both roles.
So ended on a 5/5 win loss ratio. 3 of them because the team were utter numpties that were basically playing casual solo queue.

I play on a 2mb line, don't notice too much lag, some rubber banding maybe once every 10 games.

suspect it could be my pc...

660ti graphics though (doubt the problem lies here)

Yeah, I also had a problem (well, the enemy team) where one of their guys dropped, and it remained 6v5 for the rest.
On the second I had the ranged issue, I get in first and pick Hanzo. 15 seconds later a Widowmaker and another Hanzo joins :/
The third one I switched to tank to get us the win, no one else could be bothered.

yeah my first few ranking games were also horrible they got better and i noticed immediately as I started getting paired with better players on both sides

Oh yes, my first game had a leaver on our side. That cute message popped up saying that you could leave without penalty after X amount of time. I waited for that time, game remained 5v6, so I trusted the text and left.
They don't actually elaborate and explain that you wont get punished, but you still record a loss. So of the matches that actually went 6v6, all players willing to play as a team on both sides, I won 5 lost 1. The loss being that team that utterly stomped us.

Played 3 matches of actual ranked play now, and I have won 3 in a row. So hopefully I can eventually climb a bit. Just feels stupid to have to spend the next 50 or 60 matches, to make up for the stupidity of the placement matches.

I had a few really cool placement games yesterday, so they're not all bad (think I'm 6-1 now).
I'll have to see how it rates for example wins/losses to singular performance (score/medals/points), since I'm doing a lot better on the first.

I haven't read anything about the matching algorithm, but it'll suck if you have to play that many games just to equalise.

I have a 960 gpu, i5 760 cpu and 8 gb ram. That CPU is aging a bit. Check under your PC performance monitor to see how close to maxed out it is while you game... also check ram usage.

dang this game is way to fast lol....when 6v6 all in one area trying to kill each other its hard to keep up.

need to get used to the pace...

Haha played ranked yesterday and had a situation where the opposing team all left except one poor guy. So it was 6v1 so unfair we camped outside his spawn and it was a matter of waiting for the time to pass. He got a kill or 2 but we won of course.

What was interesting is that I got very little in terms of gain to the next level so it is not just the win that counts in awarding the points.

Went 4-6 in placements. 4 of those losses due to afks. Rank 43 :/

Also, the game does say that if you leave it records it as a loss.

Also, does anyone else feel Hanzo is bloody broken at medium range? Played a game against a guy who just jumped all over the place spamming arrows. Dude had highest damage at end of the game coz the arrow hitbox is so huge he barely ever missed a shot.

Similar on my side came out of ranking games on 42 now on 40 a loss really kills your level quickly... still enjoying it but peoples attitudes in comp is annoying... would be cool to get a few people to play in a group

EDIT : was surprised to see how many guys are above level 100 already mothertrucker where do they get the time

Yeah! I'm still level 27/28 or so. Two people I know are already 90+ and they have girlfriends and families but have still found almost triple the amount of hours I have to play! What the hell!

So that everyone is aware. The ranking system is broken. At least the gains are. If you win or lose on a control type map, then you only gain or lose a very small amount of points. But wins or losses on escort or assault give you massive swings. So much so that all things being even on both teams in every game. You have to win about 5 - 7 control matches to make up for a single loss on escort/assault maps.

So you obviously lost on an escort/assault then.

I finally finished my placements and came out 7-3, ranked on 50. Tbh in most I didn't get a lot of individual kills/scores; but I thought I did well switching to the correct chars/counters to get the wins.

I don't think it matters too much, since on 50, winning 1 game I went up to about 51.2, so it changes relatively quickly.

Depends what you win or lose on. but yes, the rank does swing quite drastically.

I actually started on 50.2, since then it seems to have gone only +1 for a win, -1 for a loss?
I didn't notice that any of skill, points, medals etc made any difference (unless if I somehow managed to play all the games since the placements at near equal skill, which seems unlikely).
