With overwatch lunching soon I wanted to ask who might be getting it?

I would love if somebody that is in the beta mind posting how much data it uses per gamer or per hour. Before I preorder it

As a newly added bonus, if you pre-purchase or preorder Overwatch for any platform at www.buyoverwatch.com, you'll also get early access to the Open Beta for you and a friend from May 3–4. After that, everyone will have a chance to play free during an all-access Open Beta period from May 5–9.

Soon Soon I just hope Loot isn't behind everyone else in delivering !

Still thinking about it.

Since it falls under the category of all the other F2P Mobas and then falls further some more;

You cannot carry in this game (unlike Dota/LoL)

Sure you may have the hero/map awareness/mad skillz to do well, but without your team to actually support you, actually winning the match based off your sole performance will be futile

Add in a mixed bag of randoms + EU latency

Not a chance I'll drop $60 on a game I might be able to play with friends once in a blue moon and struggle with the rest of the time

Yeah, better to rather just think of it as a TF2 clone with characters, instead of a Moba.
I definitely won't get the expensive version, but once the normal one launches I might think about it.

Can't say I've played much TF2 aside from 1-2 LANs back in the day.

Fair enough though

I've been comparing it to MOBAs mostly because Paragon/BattleBorn resemble more of a 3rd person MOBA than TF2 :o

once the normal one launches I might think about it.

It launches/launched today

'Normal one' is EUR39.99 (despite the en-us in the URL :()

Latency doesn't really matter that much because Blizzard uses the Favor The Shooter mechanic. So if a hit registers on your screen, it counts, rather than if the hit registers on the server.

How can you not carry in an FPS? I haven't played Overwatch but I have a lot of TF2 experience and even there you could carry to a certain extent, particularly with the more generic classes like Soldier and Demoman. Not sure if Overwatch has a middle of the ground type of class.

I can say for certain that solo carrying your team is pretty much impossible in LoL these days. Local dota is so bad it's pretty easy to solo carry unless your entire team picks carries.

I'm interested in the overall feeling of how the lag here impacts the game. Can anyone shed some light on this? If it's Diablo III like I'll pass.

I played in the open Beta weekend, netcode is done pretty solidly, below is a link to the more in depth technical details.

As mentioned earlier, it's based on the "favour the shooter" method, which can be BAD in some cases, Destiny comes to mind.

I did not experience any latency issues although registering 180 - 200ms latency to the Europe servers.
I did notice some rubber-banding during line utilization which spiked my latency a bit and could see on the killcam, blinking in behind a door or pillar with Tracer, still getting killed.

Hey guys

I am looking to start forming a Overwatch team.

The objective is to build up experience for DGL as well as other tournaments both locally and internationally.

There is a local cup running every Saturday(See the link below)
https://www.digitalgamingleague.co.za/cups/19

Entries close today in order to compete tomorrow and everyone is welcome to join and league members will be chosen based on performance in the cups

Please contact me urgently if you wish to apply.
