Official : Overwatch thread

I don't get the hype about this game & doom, like a gazillion nvidia 1080 benchmarks out with these two games and they're not that demanding.

Hey guys. So I'm really interested in maybe getting into Overwatch. Now that the game has been out for a week or two, how's the ping to EU? Does it feel noticeable? Any other issues while playing the game in SA?

Maybe coz they're fun? Even if they don't cripple the latest graphics hardware?

I've played probably close to 200 "rounds" with a ping ranging between 190 - 270 on my Afrihost account (10mbps) and not once felt that I need to quit the game. If the ping hits 270 I switch to a character less impacted by my ping, overall I don't feel an impact, even thou there probably is ;-). I will however be getting Fibre in the next month or so, can't wait!

It's really a great game and I would definitely recommend it ;-)

For the guys worried about ping ... I love this game

Glad that these guys are doing some listening. The custom servers is one of the biggest issues that most pro gamers have complained about, and they are actually taking it seriously.

I have been enjoying this game a lot. I am only level 22 or so. The fun factor is definitely there. Cant wait for the competitive league so that there can be even tighter matchmaking.

Awesome, I'm definitely buying as soon as my Afrihost 4Mbps is up and running.

Fibre shouldn't affect your ping though? Or am I missing something?

It's very luck based here in SA (depending on where you are located), but in general Fibre can drop your ping a bit.

GREAT NEWS! I managed to get the game for R644 (standard edition). If you are sitting on the fence regarding the purchase coz the Euro or local price is too much (like I was), I manage to buy it from the US store for $40.

Do a google search for "buy Overwatch US". The first link will take you directly where you want to go. If you don't like that, just use whatever preferred method to get onto us.battle.net.

Then navigate to Overwatch and make sure you select the standard edition for $40.

Then buy! I tried to use my CC to make the purchase but for some reason Blizzard doesn't like my card, so I used my FNB debit card which thankfully lets me make purchases online.

Why buy the US version, when the EU version will give you lower latency?

Suppose you only bought the US version seeing that it's cheaper dollar wise versus that of the euro according to our exchange rate ;)

Ah sorry, forgot to mention you can switch regions, so I'm playing on EU. With that in mind, the latency difference is minimal. I'm getting 230-250 on EU and 270 on US (dunno why as I got 160-180 ping on EU LoL servers).

Just in case anyone was wondering, the Battle.net latency issue has been fixed. Recorded some gameplay of Overwatch with the new ping. Excuse the occasional freeze, my HD was acting up.

Just bought this game... haven't even played it yet but I'll add you.

EDIT: played last night for a few hours, really enjoyed it and didn't notice to much lag, still managed to easily get kills with the sniper.
