Hi guys.. Can anyone tell me why we have so little content to download on the playstation network. there's alot more things to download on the american PSN
 
Hey guys, maybe one of you can give some info or your views etc.
My vodacom HSDPA contract expires in Feb, and i'll be going on a prepaid basis until i've decided what to do next.

I'm considering Neotel Prime's offering - 5Gb for R499, no line rental as it's wireless, but i have no idea how online gaming will perform. I know it will have latency issues (as did HSDPA) because of the wireless tech, but i managed very decently online with my HSDPA connection.
Does anyone have any info on online gaming with Neotel Prime?

I must try this with my Neotel connection - will let you know if its worth the effort - maybe you should wait for NeoFlex - to be launched next week..!

Thanks, that'll help a lot. Btw, what's the difference with Neoflex? I've read the article on MyBB but it doesn't give any specifications.

@Identity: already tried the ADSL/3G/Neotel threads but got no joy, that's why i posed the question here.;)

Sorry, but this is considered "on topic" if it's about Online gaming with the PS3.:D

To Kerrrang!:

I've been using a Neotel Prime connection 10 Gig for my PS3's online needs.
Games like Wipeout HD is without lag.
UT3 had some lag.
For games that doesn't require much in terms of information send, I don't think you'll need to look any further.
The ping was about +/-317 when I last checked it on www.speedtest.net, which is quite high, but as I said Wipeout played 100%.

You can look at Neoflex which have faster upload speeds.
The reason why I chose Neotel is because I wanted more data for my money than speed.
More worried about the online downloads from the PSN , than actual online play.
I also found it to be way more stable and cheaper than the HSDPA, because my cell phone used to charge on the usb and then disconnects when done.

The undersea cable should also be completed during the year, so all prices should drop for cap and speeds should increase overall.
So I'm more than happy with sticking with my Neotel Prime for now.

Hope this helps you decide.

Awesome, thanks for the tests dude. Neoflex then seems like a viable option, if only they had a 5 Gb option. R700 p/m is a bit steep for me, but i like 2 things you mentioned:

1. It's more stable than HSDPA (that's a big + in my books)
2. It's cheaper than HSDPA when similar packages are compared.

I'll wait it out for another month or so and see if Neoflex gets a 5 Gb package, otherwise i'll just continue on prepaid till Seacom gets launched.

EDIT: just got news that Neotel have listened to the multiple complaints and are working on an entry level package for Neoflex, prob around 5 Gb. Woo-hooo! :D

Rumor: Mass Effect Trilogy Coming to PS3

One of the biggest questions that came out of EA’s acquisition of Bioware in late 2007 was the exclusivity of the Mass Effect trilogy. Would the games remain on the 360 and PC or would Sony get a piece of the pie as well?

A fairly reliable source close to Electronic Arts tells us that the sequel (and subsequent iterations) will be available the PlayStation 3 as well as the Xbox 360 and PC. According to our source, EA decided to make the series multiplatform mostly due to the “the economic outlook”.

Our source claims that because of the current state of the economy, Electronic Arts is looking to squeeze as much money from its portfolio of games as it possibly can. Obviously, making Mass Effect 2 and 3 multiplatform would increase their sales, as the game would be available to more people.

But what about the PS3 owners who missed the first game? Our source says it is “likely” EA will release a PlayStation 3 port of the original Mass Effect, debuting sometime in mid-2009. Similar to Take-Two’s decision to make a Bioshock port on the PS3, this port would introduce PS3 owners to the series and give EA almost risk-free profit from its sales.

The official announcement will “take place at GDC” (which starts March 23), according to our source. Of course, take this with a grain of salt till then.

Forza 2 Outdone By GT5 Physics

There is no doubt in my mind that Forza 2 is an excellent racing game. Some can even say that it is the best racing game out right now, and I agree, Forza 2 has a lot going for it: good customization, hot paint jobs, a nice online trading system, engine swaps etc. But the thing is, some people want to believe that it has better driving physics than Gran Turismo 5, and they are truly mistaken.

Although driving in Forza 2 may seem real, let’s take a look at the DRIVING physics of each game. Here is a video of the drifting in Forza 2 (Rear Wheel Drive) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OK1mDXoR2I&feature=related notice how when drifting in Forza 2, you do not have to turn before you drift (how you just slide right into the drift) well… this is absolutely the wrong DRIVING PHYSICS. If you can just drift around a 180 degree turn just by hitting the E-brake, that is incorrect, period. That is not how car physics work. For instance, learning to drift in Forza 2, took me no time at all, it required little skill besides knowing when to start sliding. Any of you that have played Gran Turismo would understand that it takes a lot of practice to learn how to drift in Gran Turismo. It takes time and effort to know even the basics. I am not saying that Forza 2 has bad physics, in fact they are really good, just not to the accuracy of Gran Turismo 5. Both have their pros and cons, but when it comes to the physics, Forza 2 is outdone by Gran Turismo 5. This why the pros turn to the Gran Turismo series to practice their maneuvers, timing, breaking, turning, etc.
