The Samsung has a higher Contrast ratio?

The contrast ratio quoted is the dynamic contrast...

The real one is something like 300/600 or so. Still very good.

Samsung are IMO probably the best option. At one stage they were responsible for about 70% of all LCD panels in all products.

Just remember, the larger the screen, the bigger the dot pitch (the space between each like-for-like colour).

So, a 20 inch widescreen will have the same resolution as a 22", but with a better dot pitch. The trade off is obviously a smaller screen though.

To anyone looking for good PS3 deal, just saw a 80GB bundle + dual shock 3 with Resistance 2 and Spider Man 3 blu-ray (horrible film). But this deal looks good enough just for resistance 2 alone. All for R4999

I bought The PS3 yesterday, after much debate. It looks great, However on my 19inch monitor I have to connect it via a TV card, via my PC. The resolution is crappy and almost seems like a PS2. I did buy a HDMI to DVI cable, but keep getting the Out of frequencey error message.??????
PS: The XBOX 360 ran on the same screen and the output was much better!!

Yeah, the ps3 will only output via HDMI on a HDCP compliant monitor, so, if your 19" doesnt support HDCP, you wont be able to use the HDMI - DVI cable.

Your easiest and best solution is to look for a Samsung 22" inch with HDCP.
I've also seen some third party component to vga converters and such (cant remember where) but there is a big loss of image quality.

The 22" has more inputs. But if you don't need S-Video then the 24 inch would be a better choice

well, a 24 " monitor will let you output to full 1080p, a 22" will only do 720p.

also remember, both 720p and 1080p are not native resolutions for 22" and 24" lcd monitors so the picture does look a bit fuzzy and iirc the lcd may be damaged over time (i might be wrong about the damage - but i am sure that the best resolution for an lcd is it's native res)

In the case of a 22" the native res is 1680x1050
24" is 1920x1200

720 p is 1080x720
1080p is 1920x1080

If you plan on using a pc and ps3 together on the same monitor then obviously a pc monitor will be better suited to you needs.
If you plan on using a ps3 only, then a 32" lcd tv will cost about the same as a pc 24" monitor and will output to 720p natively (1080p is only beneficial and noticeable to the human eye on 50" or larger displays)
Also, a decent graphics card should be able to output to a tv display at its native res aswell, the only downside being that the native res is lower than a pc lcd monitor..

one a side note; the nxe on the xbox 360 allows for native res. selection on pc monitors, so your not just stuck with 720p and 1080p, however, when you boot a game, the console resizes the image so that you get black bars above and below the image to accomodate the downscaling from native res to 720p or 1080p.

I don't mind purchasing a 32" LCD TV its just that I have R4K voucher at DP. So i thought the samsung was my best choice.
