Official Springbok Tri-Nations Thread

I would like the Refs in rugby to have the same attitude as the refs in soccer. That would be super.

If the refs in football had the same attitude as the refs in rugby (on the other hand) the arguing with the ref would be even greater.

Not sure what you are meaning by this....

The boks lost again!!!

Time to clean out the closet. Send all the 'golden oldies' back to Europe, ie Matfield - he was useless today, sorry WE were useless today.

What are the Aussies going to do to us?

I think the Boks played a fair game yesterday. The attach and defence was up to standard and how is that try of Mr Habana......?

The All Blacks will get what is comming to them soon.

Thanks for spporting this thread guys and girls.

What rubbish are you talking about "losing again"? Post something constructive other than just flaming them.

I would guess he is referring to losing in New Zealand again. It has been 10 years since we won in NZ after all

I sincerely hope PDV screw his head back on whe he makes the next team selection! This week's team selection was preposterous. There is no point in stating in the post match press interview that we have significant talent in SA if you are not going to use it. And it had nothing to do with experience or tactics - I was confused and angry at some atrocious selections...

DJ at risk of this getting argumentative :), what selections in particular were you concerned about and in particular with regards to the starting 15?

I'll wade in with who I reckon should not have started yesterday -

Odwa Ndungane - man I love this chap but after some so-so performances ... come back to the Sharks bru, we need you :D
Joe van Niekerk - compared to Spies or Kank, failed miserably to make an impact of any sort.
Gurthro Steenkamp + CJ van der Linde - need I even mention our shocking scrums
Conrad Jantjes - over Percy? .. are you kidding me. Was atrocious.
Brian Mujati, Andries Bekker, Luke Watson, Bolla Conradie - didn't even notice these bumheads when they came on.

OK so you criticise the front row but who should be there? I do not think it was any better when Mujati came on, in fact we seemed to get shoved around more. I hazard to guess you would be calling for the Sharks front row? :)

And I thought Conrad Jantjies was fine. In fact even the Kiwi commentators went as far as to compliment him. He was brilliant under the high ball.

Joe was quiet but not sure the other two could have done much better when our scrum was getting shoved backwards. A number eight needs the scrum going foward to be able to pick up and make ground.

Odwa I agree with. He seemed out of position often too when the ball got kicked behind our pack. I know this could be Conrad's fault too but he always seemed to be covering the other side of the field at the time. This might also just have been Carter's brilliance in seeing and exploiting open space.

of course I would be calling for the Sharks front row :D And while Jantjies might be good under the high ball, the last time I checked, a 15 wasn't solely a high ball catcher .... he does nothing else well !

Well the squad selection means that one or two key players are missing from who I believe should be there. However there were still some atrocious selection decisions:

Odwa
Joe van Niekerk
Luke Watson
Bolla Conradie
Conrad Jantjies (however he did play OK, to select him over Percy was shocking to me though)

In my opinion that is more than a quarter of your starting 15 that should never have taken the pitch. There are a few others who were marginal selections IMO and therefore I wont b1tch about them, but I find this kind of experimentation in such an important game akin to that of Dick Muir's during the semi S14...

This may be pedantic but two of those you mentioned were not in the starting 15. The others Mephisto mentioned earlier and I commented on them.

Actually... are you and Mephisto the same person as your posts are almost identical? :)

True, but they took the field of play ahead of more deserved players...

LOL :D Great minds think alike or this is a common perception. I suspect that you will suggest the latter being the more appropriate reasoning

Bleh, horrible weekend sport, Boks loose, Mclaren win *puke*

We were outclassed by a very patient AB side.
Scrums, eish, CJ got hammered first 2 but then won short arms for the next 2. Experienced campaigners in the NZ front row.
Butch I reckon had his worst game ever.
January played well and was a menace.

How about that drop kick of Steyn's that just didnt make it  HUGE.
AD and Jantjes did fine but I would still have started with Steyn and Monty, much more of a presence.

We can beat this All Black team and have one more crack it at!!!!

I dont know, after saturday morning's game, I just went back to bed. We started so good.

After the first half, I told my buddy, we are playing like champs, stopping them where we needed to, and running like mad when we got the chance.

And then, its like a pron movie, that start out with all these hot girls going crazy, then end of with mephisto, a guy and a girl in a threesome, something so horrible, words cannot describe it.

Seriously, I dont know what motivational speech PDV gave them, but he should really be stopped or banned from the locker room during half time, when they came back, they were totally directionless.

Butch James, was too painful to watch. The man is a great number 10, but the mistakes of saturday was costing us dearly, let Steyn start (the only good thing comming from the sharks), and then later on let Butch come back in.

And mojati, oh my word, do we really have that much lack of talent, that we need to resort to brian mojati??? The man could not even stop and old lady and her walker in a scrum.

But enough ranting, bring on the next one!!! Lets see if we learned anything from this last massacre and take the pain to them

 the only good thing coming from the Sharks is Steyn?! What about Bismarck, Smit, The Beast and Jacobs ........

Well beast did not play, and smit was off again in the middle of the game. But sorry forgot about Bismarck, he is good, but wait a minute is he still going to be with the sharks now that john smit is returning? I heard somewhere that he will leave the sharks when smit returns on number 2? Am I mistaken?
