Those conditions! Just emphasizes how good the 'Canes were. Yeah, they were helped by possibly the worst Sharks performance the whole season but to score 6 unanswered tries in gale force winds and driving rain is just insane. I'm really looking some positives here for The Sharks but just can't find any right now. Hard luck M_H et al. Hopefully Mr Teichmann brings some much needed fresh air.

What a masterclass from TJ and Barrett. Barring the Lions, SA rugby is miles behind NZ.

Disgusting performance. They were the underdogs but they played badly. Something seriously wrong at Sharks.

Thanks man. Gotta say, that's the last sliver of hope I'm holding on to right now. GT needs to enforce hard changes or lose lots of revenue/supporters I'm afraid.

"34 points down and 11 minutes to play, I just can't understand why you would kick the ball away" - Justin Marshal summing up the Sharks

The fact that the Sharks made a playoff this year is the best example of how the newfangled conference system has failed.

Recon some time in the last hour, this Gary hit send on the e-mail to the one in NZ that starts off: "Dear Gary, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your service to the union but,..."

One may argue that they played in the hardest pool.

Any pool that includes 2 fixtures against the Kings, Bulls and Jaquares can't be considered that difficult? Surely? Okay, suppose they did get all the NZ franchises too.

Anyway, piss poor season for the Sharks. Their qualification is more of an indictment on the format than a reflection of their ability. They've barely played any rugby this season with the exception of the home win against the Canes.

Hospital pass to Teichmann indeed.

But the greater concern is the state of SA rugby! We simply cannot continue hemorrhaging players to overseas clubs and expect to remain competitive.

As much as I hate saying it, the Bulls would have done a lot better.

much as I hate the Sharks right now for capitulating, that's as idiotic as saying the Kings would have done a lot better. It's in the realm of imaginary friends until it's been done in reality.

Wallabies recruit former All Blacks skills coach Mick Byrne in search of World Cup winning alchemy

THE Wallabies have secured a major coup by recruiting respected skills guru Mick Byrne, just ten months after he helped the All Blacks win back-to-back World Cups.

Byrne, a Sydney-raised former AFL star, has signed on with the ARU as skills coach and will start with Michael Cheika and the Wallabies this week in Sydney.

The four-year deal will also see him responsible for developing and running skills programs for every level of elite Australian rugby, from junior rep teams through to each Super Rugby franchise.

Byrne’s appointment is a game-changer for Australian rugby and is sure to ruffle Kiwi feathers across the Tasman given the 56-year-old spent the last decade on staff with the All Blacks.
