Official Super Rugby 2016 Thread

Very good game in the end, despite Lions not quite being up to their own standards. Hurricanes just didn't allow them to play.

Still, though. Lions can be proud of their season. Did fantastically well.

Congrats to the 'Canes, deserved winners. Been the best team overall this season and peaked at the right time. Haven't conceded a try in about a month... :wtf:
 
Well done Canes, congratulations are in order. The Lions might not have played at their best today, but every supporter should be proud that they achieved more than any other SA Super Rugby team this season, guiding the way that we should play rugby. Big ups to the Lions team and their supporters, better season next year.

The Lions looked like a South African team today. Kick Kick maul maul. Jantjies and Faf were poor but this wasn't their type of game. What happened to high tempo ball in hand rugby? You can still try and keep the ball even in the rain.

The Canes didn't allow them to play that type of game. They hustled them into rushed plays and incorrect decisions. To be fair, the Lions knew to expect that but still couldn't adapt.
 
The Lions can't play a tactical kicking game because Elton and Faf is no good at it. If Coetzee is going to try and play "test" rugby with the Boks he needs to look elsewhere for a 9 and 10. Jantjies was unbelievably ****. Did he do anything right today?

The Canes rush defence is good but I didnt see any intent from the Lions to try and play their natural game. Far too much aimless kicking.
 
Well it's not what I was hoping for but I'm proud of the boys. We had a good year. Canes deserved to win on the day. They used their opportunities better.
 
The Sunwolves may be going up against a wall next season, playing the Kiwi side is supposedly to be doing them good, but no signing to date has been committed to. At this time, the Sunwolves has an empty management team and player pool, and it looks like that Jamie Joseph will be arriving with not much to work with… The Japanese tend to be secretive though, and they may negotiate now only to sign by February when they conclude with the Top League which will again leave them where they were with the 2016 season.

The Rebels has signed Amanaki, why Sunwolves? Tanaka, Leitch and Hatakeyama available, but not entered into negotiation with... Apparantly, the Sunwolves has also gone through an exodus with players moving on as the JRFU has not come to the table.

Bad, Jamie Joseph should also move on, his core Brave Blossoms are playing elsewhere…

This is not underdogs anymore; this is a mess.
