Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

I've picked Reds to beat the stormers this weekend, hope I'm wrong.

That was also the game that I thought had the most even look about it.

On a side note I am now placed 946th out of 150,546 people on SuperBru :p:D

Righto. Before I forget, I made my SuperBru picks. If I wait for teamsheets I'll forget again. And let guys like Devill take the yellow cap...

Highlanders v Blues
You picked Highlanders by 11

Reds v Stormers
You picked Stormers by 5

Hurricanes v Crusaders
You picked Crusaders by 8

Waratahs v Rebels
You picked Waratahs by 18

Sharks v Chiefs
You picked Chiefs by 11

Bulls v Brumbies
You picked Brumbies by 7

Don't ask me why I went against the Bulls. I just have this stupid feeling the Bulls are going to have one of those brain fart weekends. Let's hope the gut feeling and gamble pays off.

Nobody "let" me take anything. As I represent a minority in the MyBB SuperBru group, I was forced to sneak in and take it by the strength of my beer-and-biltong rugby sense.

That's a good sign for the Stormers then...

I've also earned 0 points from the last 3 Stormers games. :-)

Haha, felt like that earlier in the season with the Blues...

Dear Mr APoc

Please do try and keep the top spot if I am unable to, because I do not think I could take a shark or a stormer taking the honours :o

Thank you and regards

They should revoke points for schit like this...:D

Haha. I knew I would get flamed for that! Just feel the Chiefs took a lot of confidence out of the Cheetahs win. And they are on a roll this year.

Sharks? Not so much!

I never get that cap.
I tend to finish in the top 4 every week.

Highlanders v Blues

Highlanders by 10. This feels like an easy pick. The Blues have had a ‘mare in 2012 and I doubt playing away from home will help their cause. Local derbies tend to be closer, so I have gone conservatively here :D

Reds v Stormers

After their loss to the Crusaders, my faith has taken a pounding. Travelling across the Tasman sea for this game ain’t going to be easy either. Reds haven’t been at their best in 2012, so a conservative 5 point win to the Stormers. That said, I feel like I am backing the wrong team for the win here :(

Hurricanes v Crusaders

This will be an interesting clash and feel that Crusaders might be too much for the Hurricanes. Crusaders by 8 points.

Waratahs v Rebels

Definitely a win to the Waratahs, but likely to be a close fought game. So 10 point win to the Waratahs.

Sharks v Chiefs

First home game for the Sharks and despite the Chiefs’ excellent record, I am loyal to me team and have faith they will prevail. By 5 points to the Sharks.

Although I almost went with a Chiefs win, the Sharks will be happy to be home and the Chiefs win wasn't exactly a runaway over the Cheetahs. So happy with this pick.

Bulls v Brumbies

Bulls by 15. I cannot see how they can lose this one. :o

.
.

That said, it could all go pear-shape :D

I have a feeling the Sharks/Chiefs game is going to be the difference between a GSP or not for most people...

+1. I am in two minds as the Chiefs will be in their second week and that is the week that most teams dip a bit.

I think if the Chiefs have an average show and the sharks get their bunnychows in a row we might see an upset.

Currently:

1. Chiefs - 31
2. Stormers - 29
3. Brumbies - 24

Wild card teams
4. Bulls - 29
5. Highlanders - 26
6. Hurricanes - 25

7. Crusaders - 23
8. Sharks - 22
9. Reds - 21
10. Waratahs - 21

Now, my feelings for the weekend:
Highlanders - Blues (don't expect a bonus point, so +4)
Reds - Stormers (don't expect a bonus point, so +4)
Hurricanes - Crusaders (don't expect a bonus point, so +4)
Waratahs - Rebels (don't expect a bonus point, so +4)
Sharks - Chiefs (don't expect a bonus point, so +4)
Bulls - Brumbies (DO expect a bonus so +5)

Which gives the resulting log:

1. Bulls - 34
2. Chiefs - 31
3. Waratahs - 25

Wild card teams
4. Stormers - 33
5. Highlanders - 30
6. Crusaders - 27

7. Sharks - 26
8. Hurricanes - 25
9. Brumbies - 24
10. Reds - 21

The better team - The Sharks - sit in 7th, outside of anything, because the top 3 is country-reserved. But sitting there like a sore fkn thumb is the 'tahs (whom I probably dislike most in the entire S15, so I may be biased).
The stormers should be 2nd. But again, we need a Top 3 for all countries.

It is a crock of sht if you ask me. At least the Sharks will have a bye the following week while Crusaders will probably lose to Waratards. Doesn't really improve though cause the sharks will have 30 and the Tahs with 29 (they won't make the bonuses) will still stand 3rd. At least sharks will be in top 6 though.

I spotted this on Monday and concurred with your sentiment. I am sure they do this simply to secure viewer interest. Feels farcical though.

In the Argus' headlines it says "Stormers must play smart to beat Reds", so unfortunately... :o

:p

I think they will still one up the Reds. The younger guys have shown that they can take responsibility.

As long as Joe / Bash has his / her kicking boots on and the wings and fullback collect the kicking from the reds cleanly the stormers should win.
