Asia, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Yeah, and let's do it over the course of 8 weeks and make them play each other twice.

Hooray for advertising...

You're going to need the USA, UK and Europe in there somewhere to make this thing work and be truly global. Extend the tournament to 10 weeks to compensate for the extra teams.

Play each other twice? Hmm. Okay, yeah. That definitely makes sense. Home and way to make it fair to all teams. Only concern for me is that we have not included Samoa into this. What would such a tournament be without their bone crushing tackles.

Oooo, I like this! Why not get only one team each from all these countries and make them play for a trophy. We can do this like every 4 years!

Pacific Super 15 team mooted

Wellington - New Zealand's Super Rugby coaches are pushing for a team of Pacific island players to be included in the southern hemisphere competition when it expands in 2016, a report said on Wednesday.

The team, based in Auckland, would be part of an 18-team competition under a proposal from the head coaches of New Zealand's five existing Super Rugby teams, the New Zealand Herald reported.

It said the competition would also include a Japanese team and South Africa's Kings and Lions.

The Herald said Argentina would not have a team in the proposed competition but clubs would be allowed to sign Argentine players.

The proposal would be a major boost for Pacific nations such as Samoa, Fiji and Tonga, who struggle to retain players because of poor infrastructure and lack of meaningful competition.

Basing the team in Auckland would provide a ready-made player pool and fan base, due to the city's large Pacific population, the report said.

The SANZAR countries - South Africa, New Zealand and Australia - are looking to expand the Super Rugby tournament when the current broadcast deal expires at the end of 2015.

The move is being driven by South Africa's insistence that they field six teams, rather than the current five entered by all three countries.

I think it could be great. At the same time I feel that an 18 Team competition will just be too much.

Perhaps have Aus + 1 asian combined team, NZ + 1 pacific team, SA with all 6 its teams, play out locally and then the top two from each group plus two wild card slots play q-finals.

I wanna weigh in on this: Sharks have some openers first. Usually, they get shafted straight onto a cruel tour schedule. With a decent start at home, they may actually be our best hope next year. The BULLS - with all our losses of key personnel - will have a tough time of it next year :crying:

Anyone watching 6 Nations?

Italy just gifted Wales the easiest try in the world. Absolutely ridiculous...

Following on Twitter and watching bits and pieces via the ****ty Supersport streaming.

And in true French fashion they go from heroes to zeroes in a flash.

Epic ending here...

I missed it. Storm brought my ADSL line to its knees. Just saw the result now.

I reckon the Pommies lost it when they replaced Danny Care. He was having a blinder.

thought about going with the french on Superbru as they showed a lot of promise at the end of last year (they lost a couple of close games to stronger / better teams because they had no momentum).
