Two turbo reverse Stormers props, no Brussow, Franco v/d Merwe gets a spot above Bekker wasn't expecting Lappies yet as this is his first 'big' season he'll get a chance - maybe at end of year - Phillep is very good at linking and tackling but his carries are a bit shaky with him losing the ball in the contact too often for my liking.

Glad Robbie gets a chance - not scene enough of Serfontein to comment but otherwise the backs look like the old horses.

You cant have Bekker playing because he is making himself unavailable for the boks due to him leaving for Japan after Super Rugby.

Made my picks.

Brumbies -- Jake will be hard on them after the Kings draw.
Chiefs - Not that easy a pick. If Cooper and Genia fires the Chiefs are in trouble.
Blues - Close one but I went home ground advantage.
Rebels - Kings might have outdone themselves last week. Hope they prove me wrong.
Crusaders - Because
Sharks - Stormers injuries and Sharks on a bit of a high
Bulls - My teams run needs to end sometime... Hope they also prove me wrong.

Ja I only read the reason after looking at the team sheet - still don't like Franco that much - if you have an enforcer you have to pair him with a tactician. Don't ask me who else is good enough though.

At the moment we have Etzebeth that is a stand out lock. I also rate Juandré Kruger. After that we are a tad thin with Bekker away.

If Lodewyk de Jager continues on current form he will be a Bok by the end of this year.

I really hope Flip vd Merwe gets his **** together this year and plays the type of rugby that made him a Bok in the first place.

Flip seems to be able to play one out of three games in the bok jersey at the level where he would be a permanent fixture in the no 4 jersey in most teams around the world. Then he fscks it up so badly in the other two out of three games that I feel like loaning him to the SWD arende....

Lodewyk de Jager is a good find for the future but imo SA needs more no 5 locks (the traditional loser player, not the "bruiser").

Slenters?

'n kombinasie van slot en senter?

No :p

The no. 5 lock imo should be more fringe defender and a loose forward than the no. 4 lock. Also imo it would be an advantage to have someone that thinks a bit further than the next defender / attacker.

5 lock should make the lineout calls, be the go-to jumper stand off from the 9 not the outside center (Bekker, Matfield) - in the Cheetahs setup you are looking at Francois and Andries Ferreira but not of bok standard yet. (I'm biased sue me)

Our current #5 locks are:
Kruger (Bulls) going overseas so hard to keep him in test setup for an extended period
Bekker (Stormers) big in Japan - out for Boks
v/d Merwe (Sharks) I don't rate him I know Bresler is on the bench but can he cover 5 as well?
Cheetahs locks not close to bok no5 yet
Don't think Sykes is a no5 as well?

No. No he is not.

Jip, Bekker and Kruger the only on par no 5s imo.

If Kruger is injured we are screwed. Well hopefully someone will step up :)

SuperBru:

I see that DJ… is gambling

Highlanders taking the Brumbies, really?

Oh well I have Reds win Champs and Canes win Blues

Rebels and Kings, game worth watching!!!

Yip, I've gone with a few gambles. I do think the Highlanders have it in them if they can learn to string a few passes together. Inevitably the Brumbies will falter and inevitably it will be against a weak team. I'm going with it being The Highlanders. After all, there can be only one...

The Sharks should try lure back Johan Muller, he has been playing well in Ireland and would likely be a Bok contender if he returns.

DUDE! You've convinced me...
(You haven't - but it is a strong argument)

Did you not see last week's match against the Kings?......

HIGHLANDERS-> Dj... convinced me
CHIEFS-> Reds will get a hiding
BLUES-> They have been consistent
SOUTHERN KINGS-> They'd kill for another win on the run. This is their chance.
CRUSADERS-> Shooting fish in a barrel
Stormers and Sharks to DRAW
BULLS-> I hope...

^this^ with the exception of Stormers/Sharks. I'm going Sharks...so expect the Stormers to pull their collective fingers out of their arses and finally produce.
