I've gone with the Stormers again. Even though they let me down week after week. I'm a Stormers supporter so I guess I got to pick them.

The longer this tournament goes on the less I know which team to pick.

True, the current season stats I'm compiling indicates a huge change since previous history, not enough data to make any indication, but does not look good for the Stormers. Many reasons why my picks is already made, it just gets to difficult. I sincerely hope I'm wrong with my Bulls prediction this week... Really want the Cheetahs claiming victory.

A few tough picks this weekend, wasn't sure even after I pressed submit - I have to share this email I got from a buddy after he made his picks :D (we are both Cheetahs supporters - naturally)

Ek sien al die wp ondersteuners is sover verrraaiers, hul back die bulle want kan nou nog nie verstaan dat rugby vir meer as 80min kan aangaan nie.

I hope this is the case this weekend as I took a gamble on the shoulders of young van Aswegen - he is labelled the Messiah so he has to get on with it!

It's also difficult to use the previous years stats, because of player movements, new coaches, a new team etc...

I have two easy models, one based on history, advantage etc. (use this in SuperBru), player movements is not a variant here. Usually have a ~75% prediction with this.

The other model is only player stats, but does allow position movement. I use this in TestRugby, have great success here.

My model is not prediting a Highlanders win at all.
It only has losses to go on and today is no different.

For Highlanders vs Kings, it will choose Kings.

My model does not include the Kings (no stats), thus their stats have been substituted with the Lions. So when the Kings win according to my SuperBru… it could have been the Lions playing.

I only have to make picks again at the quarter’s stage, so then I will take my model and include this year’s stats, making my decisions.

Yip, I've gone with a few gambles. I do think the Highlanders have it in them if they can learn to string a few passes together. Inevitably the Brumbies will falter and inevitably it will be against a weak team. I'm going with it being The Highlanders. After all, there can be only one...

Close, but no cigar.

Not quickening enough :p

Two cracker local fixtures this weekend. Don't know what the wife will be doing from 5PM but I'll be hogging the remote for sure....Mmm maybe a braai is in order if the weather plays along.
