Read that as well - HM probably gave him the assurance that he will still make every squad :D

I don't dislike Krusty as much as most of the 'rugby experts' he is solid at the back but his tackling isn't up to scratch for me and he doesn't have any attacking flair except to bob and weave before he runs into someone.

If he could only provide 15% more impetus on attack I would think he deserved all his bok caps but only as a kick defender and catcher he doesn't meet my criteria.

Problem is we so thin at 15. That's the only reason Zane's 1st choice. I doubt he would be 1st choice fullback in any other top playing test nations. Compare him to Dagg, Beale, Rob Kearney, Leigh Halfpenny. He is the poor relative in that company.

I would really like to see Frans Steyn make fullback his primary position... if for nothing else, than for the sake of SA rugby...

I'm also one of the few people who actually rate Zane as a good player. He may not have x-factor but he is solid at the back. His positional play is some of the best I've ever seen.

This opens the door for Taute and he is a liability at the back. Where Zane is solid, Taute is error prone and has very little vision.

Beale can be great if he applies himself, I would put O'Connor there ahead of him, really rate Halfpenny - not so much Kearney and Izzy is the best currently playing, like that Frenchie with the lambchops as well he is also elusive.

Oh no, I don't doubt Kirchner is a solid player but the best fullback in SA?

Out of the players in that position, currently I only see Joe Pietersen as the opposition for him. Taute has been really disappointing so far.

Kings letting the flounulle look good.

flounulle can't even score 4 tries against a poor Kings team. u reckon the flounulle are playing well? :wtf:

Nice comments. Too bad you apparently can't count as else you might have realised that beating any team 30+ - 0 is usually a very good performance.

I am still hoping for Lambie to be made fullback, as he really does have the pace and skill and defends like a monster whenever needed.

Who else would you pick ahead of him? I do not rate him as a top performer world wise but he surely is one of the top 3 in the country (Joe, Daniller?)

The question I would like some opinions on is who would you pick for the flyhalf spot? In my opinion Lambie and Steyn are both having a good season with the boot thus far. I do not think there is one flyhalf in the Super Series for SA that has struck me as brilliant / on form.

I know it is a tough choice because we don't have many world class Fullbacks right now but if the Sharks could get Frans back to around 102kgs and get rid of his attitude problem I reckon he would be our ideal fullback. I also quite like Ludik but I think he is a long shot.

With regards to Flyhalf, although I also originally thought Lambie would be our answer at fullback he has currently stacked his claim as a flyhalf and that is where I think he should stay. Steyn is having a great season so far but he is not the future and I think he should be used in a sort of mentoring role while giving Lambie more exposure.

I think he's wasted there. Solid, yes, but that's because he's a dependable player, not because fullback is his best position. Joe Pietersen and Keegan Daniel must have banged Heyneke Meyer's daughter or something, because no matter how well they play they never get a nod.

Lambie. I think Goosen would have been right up there, but his injury problems are holding him back constantly. Steyn is playing well, and kicking with a GPS, but I'd still likely a more attacking game overall.

Joe and Joe are both too small. Simple as that. HM has made it clear that he will pick the larger player if all else was the same. And Joe and Daniels are not no 1 in their respective position. thus no call up.

Goosen is injured for the forseeable future :( At the moment it is Steyn, Lambie, an Jantjies. I would go Steyn > Lambie > Jantjies.

Although I would like to see Lambie with some go forward ball.

Joe too small,

Hennie too slow,

Taute having a shocker but this time last year he would have been the go to man. I still think he has the goods to make it.

Ludik was looking solid but he's at the peak of his powers. I don't think he's got the extra yard required for international rugby.

Frans Steyn, as mentioned earlier, is a little too heavy and maybe lacking physical conditioning. Nothing that can't be fixed. He is the monster you want at the back.

Zane really does look the best option and that's a worry.

If it were up to me I would select Gio at fullback but HM will never.

Fly half, Goosen would have been a banker at 10 but injury will deny him his legacy.

Morne 1st choice with Lambie his under study. Pity Elton isn't firing. Ironically his game has gone off since his Bok debut. Maybe something happened in that test that gave him the impression that he will forever be out of his depth playing international rugby. He certainly being playing like that ever since. Pity.

10 is critical. Lambie needs to up the anti and fulfill all the promise shown early on in is career. I do think he is grossly over rated but would be happy to be proven wrong.

I wonder how many times we have to see that this philosophy is moronic. Spies is a beast but if you're not playing well, you're just not playing well.

Who'd you put at 8 ahead of Daniels? Vermeulen? Alberts, maybe?

Hennie Daniller looks like the best one to me

He's been incredibly consistent.

Had to pick early - gonna be sans computer from tomorrow.
In the clash of the bad weather phenomena, Hurricanes vs Stormers, I had a dilemma. Stormers are simply not firing on all cylinders and a "tendency to tour well" won't suddenly help. They also had a tendency to not languish near the bottom. In what I expect to be a tight game (could even draw) I had to marginally favour the home side. Sorry.

The Marooned Mixup (red and blue) is also gonna be a huge clash. The Blues have not had a bad season at all and while the reds will be pissed at the Brumbies game last week, that won't be enough to see them through. Another marginal victory for the Blues

Sharks, on the other hand, will tour well but they will not want this start to their tour: the Chiefs, who you will remember buried them in the final last year. I don't expect a burial this time round but unfortunately I don't see the sharks winning either. This will be my match of the weekend. Two strong teams butting heads for the first time since the final. It is gonna to be a most enjoyable breakfast and beer start to the weekend.

Brumbies need to come back and do something while the force feel strong since the crusaders victory. It will take more than a feeling though and the home side once again gets a very small marginal favour from my side.

The bulls and the cheetahs have an excellent opportunity to pull away from the sharks and stormers on the log and by the time their matches start, they will know what is required. Bulls will want to get a bonus point to remain top of the log. Cheetahs will want to get that bonus as well to try and take poll position. Imagine that. I expect both games to strongly favour the hosts as each tries to cement their log position.

Crusaders feel like crap and are playing crap but they should easily defend their castle against the rebels.

Danillier is in the same mold as Krusty and for that reason I don't want him as the Boks FB - think about it, he will give us the same Krusty gives us then he will be the one blamed for not getting over the gain line and getting line breaks. Leave him with my beloved Cheetahs and let someone who will be able to bring something different replace Krusty.

Oh and please not JoeP - I gonna be honest with you guys with my opinion but that guy is there only for kicks at goal and he doesn't even take any kicks from beyond 40 meters or inside the 15m line. In other words - he kicks 80% because he doesn't kick if it is a hard kick which costs the Stormers in some of the closer games, I don't rate his touch finders either so he is not the answer for the Boks.

I was a big Frans fan for FB, but he needs to get in shape and then I don't know who else, maybe Jurgen Visser will get a chance and he impresses.

Our rugby will always suffer if we pick player on size. This mentality needs to end. I hope we see the end of HM really soon. Pick player's on their ability only FFS.

In other great news... Watson dropped from Kings' starting line up! YAY!!!

Yeah, he looked very ring rusty on Saturday.

That Engelbrecht fellow could just be the find of the season so far for local teams. Him and that new Cheetahs lock, Lodewyk de jager.

It seems Frans will definitely be playing for the Sharks this weekend.... with the injury to Paul Jordaan we are now left a little shy down the centre channel.

Hopefully a gutsy performance will see us through against the Chiefs :)

Maybe you misread my post? Where did I knock someone on their size? I said Frans has eaten too many Royales with Cheese or Le MigMacs and needs to get smaller - if he got any bigger he would scare the front rankers!
