It is a type of adhesive spray. Makes your hands sticky and gives you better grip apparently.
Don't actually see it being used on the big stages that often. School boys buy the stuff in bulk.

I do find it laughable just how squiff these Aussie teams are allowed to feed a scrum, compared the the Saffa sides who pretty much put it in center

They've been a nothing team all season. Scraping a few bad victories over other SA teams with no attack just doesn't count. I'm really happy to see a team playing actual rugby thrash this bunch of clueless palookas. Maybe someone in Sharks management will finally catch a wakeup.
