This is embarrassing. I wouldn't mind seeing the Lions get kicked out of the Super 14. What have they honestly done through-out their Super 14 history besides acting as cannon fodder for the opposition team?

Before I forget: great game by the Stormers :) ... not everyday you win against the Blues away.

I've learned to tread lightly around this topic Chris and advise the same too. You will remember with the advent of S14, the previous year of S12 saw the Sharks as perennial underperformers and the agreement was that the EP franchise (whatever that at the time may have been) would inherit the opportunity to enter the S14 from the poorest performing SA team, which would then find itself relegated.

So, when a year later that team was the Lions it came as no surprise that reneging would be the order of the day. This topic often comes up in the pub when we watching particularly Lions or Cheetahs games. One of the biggest issues facing the Lions is the sentiment of their supporters. Many have climbed the fence to the sharks. Others have all but given up on even displaying their kit once in a while. The stadium is regarded as a dangerous place to visit (location, behavior inside, transport in and out, parking etc). When your stadium can't even fill up a tenth for a big game, the players are not all they could be either. Demotivational to say the least.

Perhaps they could consider giving Ellis Park a rest and looking for greener pastures. Like Orlando Stadium - they even find a new fan base...

I really feel for the die-hard true supporter base though - they have had little reason to celebrate in several years. And I know a few of them and their loyalty really is up there with mine for the BULLS or Lance's for the Sharks.

SHARKS!! :D

They'll come around.... there we were wallowing in the second division and wearing our banana leaves to games. Then we had Uli Schmidt trying to permanently maim our star wing. But we stuck it out. And here we are as the best team in the world. FACT! ha ha

Summary of this weekend's games...

Bulls: great victory but some discipline issues creeping in (off the ball hits and hands in at the rucks). Too many unforced errors for a team of their stature. Still deserved log leaders.

Stormers: probably the best performance by a SA team this weekend. I feel they were lucky to get away with some skullduggery at the rucks...

Cheetahs: yes, Bryce Lawrence had an indifferent game, but you cannot defend for 60 minutes and win the game with 20% possession. Lack of discipline and resources is costing them dear. Pity about Juan and Heinrich...

Lions: worst first 20 minutes of rugby I''ve seen by a SA team for a long time. Things improved when Herkie Kruger and Marius Delport bolstered the backline. Solid performance by Michael Killian at fullback. What the hell is wrong with this team? There were about 20 missed tackles in the first 10 minutes!!! Best moments of the game was the cameras focussing on the asst ref's stitches in his scalp and Mark Lawrence getting treatment for a blood injury!!

Sharks: hopefuly practicing somewhere as they have been very disappointing so far this season!

I was at Ellis park to see the Lions v Reds game last night. The first 20min were shocking :O, after that my mates and I found the cheerleaders much, much more interesting to look at than the rugby. The lion's number 15 played really well though, I thought he had a good game, and so did the guy with the long hair (Todd) I think his name is.

Things looking even worse now for Cheetahs.
Kabamba Floors found guilty of a spear tackle and suspended for 5 weeks.

Funny because I thought there was a similar offence by the Brumbies earlier in the game. Also Rocky Elsom clearing Floors out a ruck, turned him upside down and then drove him into the ground.
Nothing wrong with suspending Floors, but at least be consistent.

Crusaders will for sure field their C team next weekend and should still put 50 past the Cheetahs.

Juan Smith
Heinrich Brussow
Lionel Mapoe
Frans Viljoen
Ashleigh Johnson
David de Villiers
Kabamba Floors
Bjorn Basson

All the Cheetah players out due to injury, suspension or personal reasons.
Pretty sure the Cheetahs are wishing for this season to end quickly.

tsk, silly Apoc, didn't you know it's only saffa's that get disciplined for such things ........ the convicts SURELY are never guilty.

Same old shyte, different weekend.

Todd Clever, the yank. But he only played a little of the game.

Yea, true, but from what I saw he did play well. Also came on as a blood replacement for a little while.

As for the Cheetah's predicament :/ :erm:

The call on stegman was silly. He was already looking in another direction when he collided with the other player. Other than that we did play a bit patchy, some good parts undone by silly mistakes :(

BUT as I have stated to beat a team like the Chief with more than 10 points and take the bonus point AND STIL not be on top form is a very very good thing IMO.

Stormers: probably the best performance by a SA team this weekend. I feel they were lucky to get away with some skullduggery at the rucks...

Hell if Schalkie plays another game or two like this him and juan could be the springbok combo again and take us back to when they were in some amazing form.

I think what made t worse for Kabamba was that he speared Julian Huxley, who just returned to rugby after a brain tumor operation.
So it's probably this sentiment playing on the judiciary's mind.

I'm a sharks supporter so it is with a heavy heart that I say this.

I don't really enjoy watching them play rugby.

They used to be a side that played well balanced rugby with rock solid defence and clever attacking play. Last year saw them with good defence but not able to score enough tries and this year they're frail in defence and scoring even less tries. Our lack of bonus points for four or more tries is going to let us down.

The Bulls on the otherhand have answered their detractors by playing some really good attacking rugby.

Sad days.

Also, don't write the Lions off. The Cheatahs gave us a snotklap for goodness sakes.

A gsme that we should win by 70 points is going to go to the wire.

Can not wait for saturday... Rugby rugby rugby and then some more rugby! :D

The Bulls should take it against the reds if they have learnt to be a bit more patient and not make stupid unforced errors.
Chiefs and stormers game might be a thriller but if they play as clinically as last week they should make it pretty easily.
Sharks vs Lions - I would say the sharks by 20 points BUT in the last year or so the sharks have lost some shockers.
Cheetahs vs crusaders - Sorry Apoc :o but I can not see the cheetahs losing by less than 25 points. (now that I have said that they will crush the crusaders 51-14 :p)
