Yep, so now the question reverts back to SARU; how competitive are the Lions and should they be in the Super 14?

Surely the Spears cannot lose more than 13 out of 13 !!!!

No, but there is no evidence to show that they won't equal that. And the PD record can still be beaten.

There is a big gap between CurrieCup rugby and Super 14. Imagine the gap between Vodacom Cup and Super 14. If one has a look at the log for the Vodacom Cup 2010 you will see that those 3 teams (EP ; Border & SWD) finished in the last 3 positions in their division. They only won between them a total of 4 games out of 21. I personally think that they will struggle to get anywhere in the Super 14 / Super 15. We will have the same situation that a SA team will finish last. Just my 2c.

You missed the part about the mass exodus of players from SWD/EP/Border after the Spears franchise was castrated by SARU...

Bakkies cited for Aplon 'hit'

I was wondering if it would happen - thought so immediately it happened as it was a stupid head-butt!.

Cape Town - Bulls lock Bakkies Botha was cited for a charging into a ruck during his team’s Super 14 match against the Stormers at Newlands Stadium, in Cape Town.

Citing Commissioner Freek Burger cited Botha under Law 10.4 (h) for dangerously and recklessly entering a ruck without using his arms or grasping a player.

Botha made contact with Stormers right wing Gio Aplon in the second minute of the match. Aplon required treatment on the field as a result. The Stormers won the match, 38-10.

Botha will attend a judicial hearing at 13h00 on Monday, 17 May 2010, at the offices of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union in Pretoria.

If you look further in report;

The semi-finals will be played back to back early on Sunday morning (AEST) with the Bulls facing the Crusaders at Orlando Stadium, Soweto (1am AEST) followed by the Stormers-HSBC Waratahs at Newlands, Cape Town (3am AEST).
...so it was clearly a typo.

The Stormers game finished at 3am Sydney time and the Waratahs were on a 10 am Qantas flight direct to Jhb, arriving in Cape Town around 8pm last night.

They knew the outcome, the bags were packed and the tickets were booked to Cape Town

I read that their training base was going to be Durban this week, so the confusion might have come in there.

Well done to the stormers. I now just hope the bulls plan to rest the "big guns" proves to be the correct one :)

Will be awesome to see the stormers and bulls in the finals, both with full strength teams.

WTF are u posting waratahs news here for?

We did score more points against the Crusaders than we did against the bulletjies.

Jip could see the stormers ringing the changes with the game secured look on the same level as the bulletjies the last 15 mins or so :)

The Bulls B teams are not close to the Stormers A team.

I was pretty happy to see Schalk and Bekker go off early.
Nice to see De Waal get some gametime, he kicks well under pressure.

I was also happy to see aplon get up after the "down time". I will be dissapointed if he does not make the boks "B team" for when we play Italy and all the smaller teams.

We know that the Bulls would be dirty, we were just hoping the stormers wouldn't forget about winning the game.

I remember a Test match against England when Corne Krige was captain, do not want...
