Thanks prof818, but mine is probably already out of warranty. I am just a few months away from 2 years now.
Reading the comments, I quite sure mine is not rootedLike they say, we learn something new everyday. I am still learning tons.

Why o why did I think 11:30 was a good time to flash a from. I now have grey hairs and have to be up in a couple of hours.

Anybody know of issues with 32k sims with ics my vodacom sim doesn't work at all but my cellc does.
Either way (once I got this rom working) it really is great hope its still like this in a months time. The best thing is not having to wait for my widgets to come back especially after coming of the internet browser.

It turns out I simply lost my imei number, after restoring it everything is 100,s both Sims work now. So if anyone has similar issues just confirm first if your imei is the one shown in settings.

I hate my galaxy s, tired of this piece of crap, just a year left to get rid of it.
Had mine just over 18 months now. Still extremely happy with it. So versatile. Actually browsing forum now and posting from my mine.

2 years and I'm still very happy with mine. Running a custom Android 4.0 ROM on it now (SlimICS with Semaphore kernel), it's awesome and faster than ever.

I'm happier now with it than Ive ever been unfortunately there were many growing pains at the beginning. Glad I got this phone first and not the tab which I almost did then I would be unhappy now I'm sure

Sorry dudes, but phone is just too problemsome.
With stock rom, had a few KEY issues, like cant answer phone cos screen freezes and worst of all, phone just loses signal and you dont know. Best of all, i could not update to gb.
After flashing to ics, 4 roms i have tried, fixed some issues with apps, but other issues now with phone rebooting twice a day. On cyanomogen now for three weeks.
Samsung gps is also very crap.

Cyanogenmod firmware on ICS hasn't even made release-candidate yet for this phone so it's only recommended for testing. Don't go to a "daily-build" firmware if you don't want problems!
Although I have found the SlimICS ROM to be problem-free. Just has a terrible default launcher and DPI setting (which is easy to change though, DPI is added to the settings).
Use the Semaphore kernel and do not enable deep-idle for maximum stability. Have had no random reboots with this combo. Stable and fast.
GPS is pretty crap as always, usable though

Anyone used blue lightning or infinitum? The dev Bhu1 makes brilliant roms he just never seems to stick to one.

I quickly flashed SlimICS this morning and I'm impressed. I previously ran a Gingerbread Semaphore kernel on a GB ROM, but I'm new to the ICS versions of Semaphore. I remember the GB ones had either nothing at the end or they had bm at the end. Bm stood for big memory. I see the ICS versions has got some other things at the end. The latest ones being Semaphore_ICS_1.2.2s and Semaphore_ICS_1.2.2.
Which one are you using? With or without the s at the end? Do you know what the s stands for? Or are you using an older version?

The one with the s at the end is meant for ROMs like SlimICS so use that. These ROMS have the extra RAM that the old BigMen kernels will have but 720p video recording works this time.
In the Semapore app you can unlock a tiny bit of extra RAM which will cause 720p to stop working but I didn't bother with that.
