Probably not. You'll need to find an official Gingerbread ROM (I believe there is one linked on the DarkyROM forum) and flash it via Odin, making sure to select "re-partition" when you do so.

Thanks BXM.
Links for darkyroms dont work because multiupload is down :-(

Thanks every one, all resolved after flashing to 10.2 darky, using ODIN, backing up the EFS, and then flashing to ICS again (and restoring the EFS).

Good to hear thing all worked out...I only learnt about backing up EFS a few months ago, didn't relies how important it was to do so.
So far nothing bad has happened.
If need: EFS Pro v1.2.6 - Advanced '/efs' Backup and Restore

Just double checking before I do the dirty deed.

I shouldn't have problems going from Galnet gingerbread MIUI to ICS right? I just need gingerbread bootloaders and CWM recovery yahr?

I went from dark 10.2.

I did a clean wipe. Cleared cash and deviak cash. Then installed rom . Reboot loop. Did everything again and works fine...
Happy with ics 4.1 so far.

Quite a smooth install except for a brief spate of reboots while I tried to install the rom. Popped the battery out and re-installed from SD card and it worked a treat.

Hi guys what would the steps be to go from miui to ics? I saw something a few posts up but am looking for something more specific.

Also what ics ROM would you guys rate as the best and most stable at the moment?

Thanks

Same as going to any Cyanogen mod.
You need a decent GB stock rom base (ie EZ base)
then its a matter of just using clock work recovery, its all explained in the threads for the roms.
SLIM ICS is pretty stable.

Soft bricked my phone trying to go back from TeamICSSGS 4.2 to Darky Rom 10.4 - Like a right chop I decided to try installing it through CWM when it explicitly told me to use the DarkyOTA. But it wasn't working, so i assumed the app was bugging out, not so: I'm pretty sure the problem was the copy from my pc to the internal sd card.

I think I've solved the problem through flashing 10.2 RE via Odin. I got the DarkyRom voice telling me things which is usually a sign of good things. Nothing is more stressful than bootloop. Took 3 attempts to even get my phone into download mode, and odin only worked on the 4th go.

For the record: http://androidforums.com/vibrant-tips-tricks/223806-guide-fixing-bricks-odin-errors.html is a useful link for anyone with an SGS who gets their phone bricked. Also, Darky 10.2 Resurrection edition is a great way to fix your phone if you have any issues. It comes with Odin + a rom you can flash to provided you can get into download mode.

(Success)

Hi everyone

I installed ICS slim 2.8 on my S

This morning I wanted tio upgrade to 3.0

I did the wipe/factory reset/cache wipe and everything

But I forgot to add the zip files to the internal SD card. Idiot!!!

After the wipe and format in CWM, when I tried to reboot, I got a bootloop of sorts, where it just swops between "g 4.0.3th" and normal "Samsung Galaxy S"

Now I was wondering, is there any way of getting the zip files onto the internal SD now?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you should be able to push the zip file to the phone with adb. Otherwise, just put it in download mode and flash it with odin.

Enter recovery mode > Mounts and Storage > Mount USB Storage. Assuming the relevant drivers are installed, your computer will detect the device's intSD and you can copy whatever you want on to the phone.

Of course, I'm assuming you can at least enter recovery mode right? I've had bootloops before but they have never affected my ability to enter recovery.

maybe u can put it on the external? I know u should t install roms from the external but I've done it a few times with no problem...
