Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

Going back to Darky myself until the newer ICS builds stabilize.

Onecosmic's ICS RC 1 and 3 (now known as ICSSGS) were great, but RC4.1 is an absolute abortion.

Why so? I flashed it this morning and haven't found any issues with it yet...

Flashed Onecosmic's ICS RC4.1 this afternoon having no issues so far... applied the wifi fix after flashing.

Still as smooth as RC3.11

Just put Chrome Beta on to download...:D

Slim ICS - 73 MB - Clean, Simple & Fast - The Google Way

I'm trying this Slim Rom atm, and all I can say is bloody *&%$ it is fast.
Haven't found any problems as yet, and all the bloatware was removed. Nice clean AOSP ICS rom :D

How long do you guys see yourselves keeping your phones? Do you think you need to upgrade to an S II or something along those lines? Or is the S still more than good enough as your primary phones?

Could you really use your S for another year or two?
Tbh yes.
Nothing wrong with the phone, and like alf101 said, no new features that are a game breaker.
With the current ICS rom I have on it also makes it feel like a new phone.

And you should also remember, with all the quad core and super-duper wireless brain reading tech in the new phones, it is still a phone. I don’t want a notebook/tablet with 4” screen. Will get a tablet for all the nice new features and keep my phone a phone.

Yeah I'm in no rush to change my SGS, the ICS update really does make it feel like a new phone completely and I'm more than happy with the 4" form factor. Plus I'm more than comfortable with how the recovery and flashing works .

To the people using ICS builds, which modems are you using here? Im currently using XXJVK on Virgin Mobile, battery drain has been a bit high though(sitting in android OS and cell standby mainly). This is after doing a clean install so I'm more sure that the problem is the modem and not the ROM. Oh and I'm using the Slim ICS v1 build with the gapps pack installed.

Will keep it till it breaks.
No new features that I need right now.

If it broke now, I'd probably get one of the Nokia Windows phones.
Same here. I've got a contract expiring in the next 3 months and I've got my eye on the new Lumina range. They are sexy little devices and, besides, I think WP7.5 would be a nice change. I tried going the iFruit route, but the phone wound up unused on my bedside table for 2 months until I gave it to my wife. She exclaimed disgust over not having live wallpapers and widgets (coming from an HTC Desire).

sII conditional forwarding active - MTN

any ideas how i can make calls with the s2. everytime i try and call it says conditional forwarding active..

Maybe you're on a network with roaming.

Try setting the network instead of it being automatically selected.

Also there's an s2 thread.

and now my phone boots into ICS and data works, but not voice/sms
i believe its a modem problem?i downloaded a few modems, booted into CVW and did an "install from zip"
is this the correct procedure?i also applied the wifi fix (same way) but unable to detect any wireless networks.

Please help...i have flashed my phone a few times, and it's the first time i am having so much issues.

PS must i use ODIN for the modem flash?

Your IMEI has been overwritten. If you've backed up your EFS folder (like the instructions for this and most other ICS ROMs will tell you to do) you can simply restore it using Root Explorer (or some other file manager capable of ROOT access). If you haven't done this you'll have to flash back to an official Gingerbread ROM, backup the folder and reflash ICS.
