Official Thread: Samsung Galaxy S (I9000)

Just downloaded ZSJPE from the kitchen - gonna flash it on the way home tonight - listening to music now at the office on the phone.

Aww what the hell - may as well just, "Get her done".

ZSJPE flashed - will have to see how this goes.
Still tracking down JPM without any success.

I will change to Speedmod as soon as my phone is fullly charged again and see how that goes. Not really in the mood to do a wipe install again to be honest. See how I feel the weekend if things don't go well. Before I mod to overclock I want to see how I can improve the standard specs. I haven't overclocked things in ages. How I miss those days. Testing is fun but admittedly I don't always know what I am doing so I at least try to ensure there is a backup plan if things go wrong (such as three button recovery). I see you don't like the JPY modem so I will change that as well although mine hasn't given any problems as yet.

Not sure of the name but cousin got 1 from the vodacom shop in woodlands PTA that comes in 2 parts first is a duk rubber case that goes all round and then a plastic spine that goes over the back its the best case ive seen for a phone ever. Also comes with a screen protector. Im gonna get 1 this weekend.

Why do you want to do a wipe for a kernel?
Use SGS Kernel Flasher from the Market or in XDA and flash kernels at will my china.
Just get rid of lagfixes if applied before flashing.
SGS Kernel Flasher or CWM Recovery works for me.
Kernel flasher takes preference though - easy as pie and it can backup your current kernel for ya.
 
Found the JPM and JPU modems.

Gonna go with JPU first, as it was my stock modem and battery life was good then.

Been hammering my phone on HSPA for the last 4 hours, so can't really say if JPE been good to me.

Also used the GPS for some testing.
1% a minute or so with GPS and HSPA.

For those that dont know u can now take screen shots on 2.2 (i couldnt on 2.1)
Hold the back key , while holding the back key press the home key.
U should get a vibrate or a camera sound and a message saying screen shot taken....

I didn't do the wipe but assumed one must as well. I flashed the speedmod kernel and no problems so far. When I went to sleep last night about 01h00 with a battery life of about 80% the phone was dead this morning when I woke about 06h30:wtf:. I cannot remember if I left the flashlight app on or not as the battery this is not draining as fast this morning as I it usually does. I am still running JPY modem as mentioned as I decided it is not giving me problems so why change it now.

So what has been found to be the best modem?
I think i am using JPM (don't quote me on this) and i find battery life to be good but the bloody thing cannot keep an hsdpa signal at all. Always switching between 3g and gprs.

Damn! :erm:
Finding it hard to think that Speedmod would do that.
HSDPA and Auto Sync on all night?
Perhaps anything else different that you'd normally do.
Full specs of phone? Rom, lagfix, etc.
 
What would be a good price to pay for a galaxy s thats 4months old and in perfect condition?

I paid R4300 for a week old SGS with Body Jacket and screen protector and it included overnight courier to my door from JHB.
That was in December.

Hugo down here got a deal :)
But this time of year, with the 2nd generation Galaxy coming out, prices should go down (on the 2nd hand market anyway)
R3k for a 4 month old would sound reasonable I think.
Don't think any prospective seller would haggle for less. Then you're creeping into BB territory.
