R4k, R4.5k, seen one there now for R3400, new and sealed apparently.
There are bargains everywhere.
Are you buying or selling?
Anyway - don't want to derail the thread too much.

But in conclusion - yeah good deals are there to be had - just look for them or make them - whatever your stance is :)

In my experience:

JPY will keep signal - but it's a battery drain.

Only on second cycle of battery use for ZSJPE, but initially battery life is not much greater than JPY for me. GPS lock and accuracy seems better than JPY.
Before I rooted and ROM'd my phone, I was using JPU, which was the stock modem and that was good to me.

So in another day or so I may revert back to it.

Just check in your Settings\About Phone\Baseband Version to see what modem you're on.
 
I was a little hesitate to flash a custom ROM on my Galaxy S, but WOW was it so worth it.
Flashed Darky's v9.3, one word...AWESOME...so fast.

Can't wait for a rom build it on Gingerbread.

Just get rid of lagfixes if applied before flashing.
SGS Kernel Flasher or CWM Recovery works for me.
Kernel flasher takes preference though - easy as pie and it can backup your current kernel for ya.

True, if you're using darkies rom, download his configurator software from the market. You are able to flash kernels with this as well. Quick and painless.

Wipe should only be performed if having serious issues...although one can agree that it's a real pain in the @rse....my backup pro and titanium backup pro is a good combination for all your software backup requirements...

Give this at least 3 to 4 full discharge / charge cycles to see any noticeable difference....

I am still running JPY modem as mentioned as I decided it is not giving me problems so why change it now.

You might want to download ultimate juice with juice defender....you will save battery life as well....works for me....I also disabled hsdpa and using 3G only....constant switching between hsdpa and 3G chows battery life as well....
 
I am waiting for Darky or Doc to make a gingerbread ROM, all those unfamiliar ROM names makes me nervous.
 
I flashed Darkys v9.3 the other day for v9.1 and in the Samsung app store half the apps are no longer there (like: Kies Air, Asphalt 5 etc.).
Does anybody else have this problem?

all unnecessary "bloatware" such as the above mentioned has been removed this custom rom. you should have made a backup to your SD card before flashing.

I am on JPY.
The GPS is good but the HSDPA sucks.

Hi S&B,

Sorry it took so long to come back to you, I have been out of circulation for a few days.

This problem occurs on JPM, but it may occur in others too. When you go into Settings / About Phone / Battery Use / Cell Standby, besides the "Time On" value, you also get a "Time without signal" value of 50%. This is a bug in the modem software. Going into Airplane mode and then back to normal makes it go away.

Some say it is also a battery drainer, but if I forget to do the airplane mode thing after a reboot, it doesn't make a huge difference.

Seems to be running fine now. No excessive battery drain seems noticeable but then again I am playing Gun Bros constantly so in all fairness I haven't given it time to show me how it drains normally. I switch off auto sync and it was connected to Wi-Fi so the HSDPA/3G networks wasn't running.

I will take a look at it later and see what it is about. Heard or read the name somewhere before but can't recall what it is. I actually didn't know that switch from 3G to HSDPA the entire time drains battery life. Makes sense I suppose if I think about it constantly searching network for better signal.
 
Been running Darky 8.1 (Speedmod) for a month, no hassles at all and excellent battery life.

Installed 9.3 (Speedmod) yesterday, hit and miss at this point. XXJPY modem was extremely slow, switched to ZSJPE and is now 100%.

Quadrant is roughly the same around 1355 with lagfix enabled

Also don't have Samsung Apps. APK's can be found here HERE

using the latest Voodoo after all these months. after few days my battery seems to last just as long as SpeedMod. Probably 9.3 fixes the battery/wifi drain issues..... ;)

found SpeedMod abit laggy at times....Voodoo feels more snappy and smooth overall....
