Official Transfers & Rumours 2012/13 Thread

man city are now going to dip into the bank and make they squad stronger by placing bids for thor and captain america

Man City can't buy Thor. Chelsea already has Thorres!

I'll show myself out.

Hulk is over rated imo. Never seen anything special about him.

well he has been very good for porto for last 2/3 seasons ....

strong guy with a strike ....i guess he will be on the right with marin if he starts in the middle and hazard on the left and torres or a new striker up front

ramires and lampard/meirales/essien will be behind

He is good! Not sure where you come with this overated stuff. Good runner, good left foot. Shows up in the big games (doesn't hide away).

His stats aren't bad. – 57 goals in 91 games in the past two seasons

He's worth nowhere near 38mil. The fact that he's only got 11 caps for Brazil at the age of 25 shows that. He's a good player, but nowhere near 38mil good.

He'll be stuck out wide at Chelsea anyway. Torres up front, Hazard directly behind Torres, Hulk and Mata on either side of Hazard.

I've seen him play a few times for Porto. He's good, but not 38mil good. Paying more money than what a player is worth hasn't really been working out lately ie Torres and Carrol.

wonder how much in the champs league. cant remember watching a game where he actually scored. anyway whenever ive watched him, his disappointed. cant surely just be a league scorer..

Think he had 4 goals in Europe this season. 3 CL, 1 Europa.

he scored a cracker of a free kick ..cant remember against who

he is not a striker more a winger but 38mil is abit too much for him tho

If he's so good why aren't clubs all over Europe lining up to buy him? From what I have read Chelsea are the only club trying to sign him (I could be wrong)

I watched him in both legs against City in the Europa League, he didn't really do much at all.

But hey if I had to choose, 35mil for Carrol or 38mil for Hulk, I'd take Hulk.

The markets crazy though, so yeah whatever it is what it is. Let's see if he lives up to his price tag or not.

Hulk will be on 100k(at least) a week. Carroll is on 50-60k a week. Over 5 years thats 13 million more. Same story with Aguero. Don't just compare transfer fees. You need to compare the wages as well.

Wonder how this spending spree will effect Chelsea's Financial fair play status. Some pretty big transfers thats going off the bottem line in the next few years.

i remember fergie being interested in him a while back (2/3 years ago) but nothing came of that

he is good ..not worth 38mill tho ....but he is consistent in the porto team

and well porto did lose 6-1

The market's only as screwed up as it is because of Chelsea and Man City. Anytime a club sees those two names, a player's value doubles or triples, effectively making the player unavailable to other teams. This fantasy football **** needs to stop, and soon. It's ruining football. No, I'm not saying everyone needs to act like Arsene "Tight Bastard" Wenger, but when amounts like £50 million for Torres, or £38 million for Hulk are flying around, someone's taking the piss somewhere. FairPlay needs to come into effect really soon, or the game is screwed.

torres was a 50mil striker looking at his record ...

ronaldo well he is worth every penny united and madrid paid for him

and then yes you get the guys who are worth more than rated just cause the clubs have money

Well, it's nice that I can finally agree with sticky on something (though it does help when he's not acting like sanctimonious prat :P ).

1. Hulk is a utility forward. He will be able to take Torres' place if the need arises, but is mainly a right winger. something we have missed for a long time.

2. He might be consistent in the league, but in the big matches, he fails hard.

3. Compare his stats when Falcao was the spearhead of the attack and this season when Falcao wasn't at Porto. Falcao has been the same, Hulk has been less effective - simply put, he is far less clinical than Falcao and when there was an option of marking Falcao out of the game or Hulk, most opposition managers chose Falcao - with good reason.

4. 38 million for a player who will keep Kakuta, Lukaku and De Bruyne on the bench. I am not a happy chappy.

@TheVoice - It's got nothing to do with Chelsea and Man City. The same happens when Real Madrid or Barcelona are interested in someone. so basically you are saying that the clubs with money are pushing up prices, which really is nothing new. I mean the same things happened when AC Milan were big spenders. Napoli pushed the envelope more than anyone when they bought Maradonna for a million pounds (the first ever transfer to hit that lofty target). You might sneer at that price, but in those days it was as ridiculous as the amount Real Madrid paid for Ronaldo. I don't think either club will ever say that it was money badly spent.
