It's lucky that Jacobs was injured so Fourie could actually be in the starting line-up :p. We shall finally see with Pienaar deserves his position at flyhalf....if he can't get kick properly, then he must be demoted to the bench.

For a flyhalf the first thing he should be able to do is kick (well:p).

I'm missing this weeks game because I have to drive my gf to the South Cape.
Feel like telling her to hitch hike.

I'm sure if you deflate her you can mail her.

oh looky, it's the daily meeting of the Steynie Cult ........

IF you support the BEST flyhalf atm its not a cult but an informed decision ;)

I have no problem with Pienaar when he is on form, but you play your best against the best and atm that is M. Steyn on Flyhalf.

You just like Pienaar cause he has a unibrow :p:D

lol, uhm no :D

If we are 100% honest, then we can say that BOTH of them are still untested as National flyhalf. Both are still new in the role (nationally) and both need more time to settle. Only then can the Pta brigade call for changes ;)

Uhm no. Imo Steyn has shown in 20 minutes behind a good pack of forwards how to spread and kick the ball.

Pienaar could not do either in that test ;) And he had 60 mins (thats 3 times as long for you Durbs beach bums:p).

But we will see. I really hope Pienaar hits some form in this test.

Man, you are jaded ..... Pienaar put in 3x the performance in the Durban test than Steyn did in his one 'ok-but-nothing-special-apart-from-a-kick' test.

Yes I saw that in the second test  He really had the lions on the back foot.

In durban (first test) he was good. But why not 20% as good as that in the next test?

I have said in the past he is like Freddy Michalak atm, and players like that help you win Curie Cups not World Cups nor tri nations.

If he can play like he did in the first test 8/10 times Ill be happy to see him started. If he can't give steyn a chance as he has shown he is a man that can take the pressure atm. He naild the kick but more than that he gave the backline direction in a test that look like it was going to be won by the lions.

Bump!

Ruan Pienaar is back in his home town.... Hopefully they Bloem supporters get behind him early on; I think he is a confidence player and needs a good opening few minutes.

SA won the game against NZ btw, 28-19. I will add this to my first post tomorrow. After the win SA catapulted back into the world no.1 ranking. Whoop!

We should have won 42-19........ 11 points missed by pienaar, and 3 by steyn.

But hay if we are still beating the All blacks after we failed to "score" 33% of the points on offer it just goes to show we are worthy of the Nr.1 slot in World Rugby :D

Sadly you cannot kick 100%, morne will miss kicks but far less than pienaar :)

I am sorry but lets be fair 2 of the 3 penalties (pienaar's) were easy enough to be slotted 99% of the time.

Also morne has a 90%+ kicking record (iirc) atm.... Pienaars career % for the boks before that game was 61% iirc.

Look there is no doubt that pienaar can be the complete flyhalf SA needs but he isn't atm. He looks like he is still carrying problems from injuries that shouldhave been allowed to heal properly.

I now include the log in the first post of this thread. I also updated the kick-off times. SuperSport themselves continuously said the rugby will be on at 15:00 but only at the last minute did they give the correct times, which is 17:00 for all matches played in SA.

Is it just me or did supersport have the stupidest camera shots during the game? I stopped counting how many times they showed the coaches during the game, there was a number of shots completely of target and away from the game

Can someone tell me why Francios Steyn isn't the goal kicker instead of Pienaar. I personally think that Pienaar is a potentially great player with that special ability to create magic out of nothing, unfortunately his goal kicking is very erratic. Morne is just solid but a great goal kicker. If you remove the pressure of kicking from Pienaar it would do wonders for game.

So P-Divvy today acknowledged that Ruan Pienaar is still a good player in progress. We cannot afford to have "players-in-progress" on national level. Yes, Pienaar does have his strong points but I do not believe he's ready to play at national level. Morne Steyn, although also a new player in the green and gold, has shown stronger character on the field. And his kicking is undisputedly better that Pienaar's.
