At this stage I am more interested as to what happened at the IRB hearing.

I've just read on News24 that the hearing is tomorrow.

I also thought it was today....:confused:

Update- thought I was not confused!!!!:

http://www.supersport.com/rugby/article.aspx?id=311387&headline=SA Rugby Union misconduct hearing

The misconduct case against the South African Rugby Union (Saru), its players and management was heard by an Independent Disciplinary Panel in Dublin on Monday.

Submissions and evidence was heard by the Panel comprising the Honourable Sir John Hansen KNZM (Chair), Judge Guillermo Tragant and former Australia captain John Eales. The Panel has now retired to consider its verdict and will issue its decision as soon as possible.
The charges against Saru are for alleged acts of misconduct in breach of the IRB Regulations Relating to the Game, including breaches of the IRB Code of Conduct.

The action arises from the South Africa national team wearing armbands during the third test against the British & Irish Lions on July 4 as a symbol of solidarity and protest for Bakkies Botha, following the upholding of his two-week suspension by an independent Appeal Committee for dangerously charging into a ruck without binding on a player.

The IRB will issue a statement including the verdict, sanction and judgment as soon as it is available. The IRB will not make any further comment on the hearing until the completion of the disciplinary process.

if Giteau gets away with what he did would it come back to haunt the boks?

Beating them in their own country and sending them to the bottom of the log is the best punishment we can give them. I think the players are mature enough to realize this. I've been quite proud of how the boys have stayed focused and humble. If this continues i don't see why we shouldnt be in for good times.

But we need to start taking our try opportunities, especially when we are near their try line. Its about the only real worrying thing. Sure our defense isnt perfect, but thats easily improved.

Yea i agree, rather show them who is boss than risk suspensions.

If anything matt looks stupid anyhow, looks like they reckon if you cannot beat us try decapitate us :D

It failed fourie got up and carried on like nothing happened. I bet you had fourie done that too matt he would in hospital :D

You cannot try get physical with us because we just laugh it off :D

Can not believe Matt git didn't even get a citing!

Anyway good performance by the boks although we should have scored more points in that 10 minute periode were they only had 13 men on the field.

But we never looked like we would lose the game after 10 minutes had gone past in the first half.

Since there has been little in the press in Oz about the Giteau incident I emailed one of the leading writers to ask what he thought about the inconsistency between Botha/Burger(WC)/Giteau incidents.

He replied saying that the Botha incident is vastly different from Giteau because the former resulted in a bad injury which then is automatically reckless and subject to ban, whereas Du Preez was 'just shaken up'.
No mention of the Burger (WC) incident.

I replied asking him if intent meant nothing and btw why no comment about the Burger (WC) incident.

No further correspondence.

cheers

Strange burger's eye guaging did not result in an injury yet he got 8 weeks.

So explain to me how that works? Do you have tear someone's eyes out or break there collar bone to incur a ban? So you can go flying into someone cantona style and as long as he is not injured you can get away with it? That is of course if you are not South African.
