Gotta love the Aussie and Kiwi media for their backhanded compliments usually beginning along the lines of "the Boks are the best in the world right now but...".

Found this article : http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/international/2747858/Jake-White-wants-Boks-to-be-more-expansive

It's alarming that after the IRB put so much effort over the past two years into trying to find a formula to liven their game, the most successful side right now has based it winning way around a one-dimensional approach more akin with dinosaur rugby.

Although it annoys me I must admit I found myself agreeing in parts especially after watching the Currie Cup recently with the flowing rugby the teams are playing. It's not like we don't have the backline in the Boks to play a more flowing game like we did against the Aussies last year. Hmmm, kind of a conundrum for ol' Snor. Win at all costs or entertain and possibly lose?

(Lol'd at how it's a New Zealand article but they completely ignore the opinion of their own coach and head straight to the man that most wanted for the NZ head coach job...and so happens to be coaching the enemy for his opinion. :D )

Well i find the way we play very entertaining, far more entertaining than being a kiwi supporter seeing them nailed so badly while trying to score tries from their 22 :D

We play a great game, may not be a flowing running game but still really amazing seeing all that pressure we put on the opposition resulting in tons of points. In 3 games they never even got a bonus point.

Hmmm, spoken like someone who was probably once a forward :D

Don't get me wrong, i love kicking Kiwi and Wallaby ass it's just that Snor showed last year in that Aussie drubbing (53-8) just what the team is capable of...it's just getting over comfort zones and mental blocks.

There were times in the 2nd game against the All blacks when keeping ball in hand would have been more fruitful.

I aint complaining, just making an observation.;)

It is finding a balance between flair and steady hard test rugby. I feel we are first getting the basics right and we are doing this very well atm. Next up we will start spreading the ball to the wings a bit more and we will start taking a bit more risk on the attack.

All things in balance else we are at risk of becoming the french team of the 90s :o

IMO we are playing to our traditional strengths, crush them up front and punish them with the boot, its simple and effective and I enjoy watching it, seeing NZ players not knowing what to do with the ball cause of the pressure is fantastic.

One more thing, when Aus and NZ actually figure out how to throw a line out then they can maybe complain about boring rugby, anyone with half a brain cell knows that without securing your own lineouts you're never going to win the game simple as that!

Lol, yes its like South africans complaining the UK is boring for a lack of crime :p:D

Well, we'll see. Our end of year tour isn't that tough this year (France, Italy and Ireland) would be perfect ground to try and experiment a bit more. If we win in Perth and cement the Tri-nations title, hopefully it also allows the boys a chance to unleash.

The irony is we've scored more tries in this tri-nations than both the Aussies and All Blacks. Go figure.

Lol, yeah I would also like to see the boks play "total" rugby. But I am just affraid that if we play it that no other country in the world would play against us for fear of their players being mentally scarred :o

I am a South African fan through and through but I do prefer facts being used when commenting....

Now unless I miscounted....

New Zealand 3 matches, 3 tries
Australia only 2 matches, 3 tries
SA 3 matches, 3 tries SEE EDIT!

EDIT : Oops, sorry, ok we have scored 4 but the Aussies have a game in hand so a bit of a skewed comment still.

lol! I check my facts before every post actually, this is myBB afterall :D but thanks for the ummm, "fact check" ;)

Even if the Aussies have a game in hand...a try is a try is a try.

Carter being back in the team will be epic for the all blacks, they will have someone who can kick them out of trouble and not try run from the 22.

Carter is one of my fav all black players of all time. Also why do people want to see the boks run like the all blacks when we have never really been an all black type team?

Anyways i enjoy all the games and i love seeing teams like aus and NZ moan and groan about us because they have no clue how to beat us. You never hear them moaning when they dominate us in the tri nations, when we do then they go mad about we are this and we play that way.

F em i say, they cannot even come within 7 points of us hahahahaha.

/dangles some sheep, who wants to get some poon :D.

I have said this before: As long as we keep on winning, I don't care how we win or how we play!

In Test Rugby it is the result that counts. In the future when we reflect on the 2009 season it will be whether we won the Tri-Nations or not and not how we won it.

:D Someone clearly aint planning on going to Australasia anytime soon :p

Aint moaning and groaning, well on my part anyway, just saying it would be nice if we mixed it up a bit now and then like we did just before the World Cup and during the early stages of the World Cup and in some games last year. We focused on solid forward play...but when the situation allowed it, we spread the ball. We have the brains and backline to do it. With Brussow, Spies et al and our line-out we could completely annihilate all-comers like the Bulls did in the Super 14 final. Watching Habana, de Villiers and JP chasing up and unders all day hurts my soul :D

A man can only dream...

Remember playing the aussies and all blacks is not like playing a weakish team, they are solid in defense and not easy to just run through like some other teams, so doing what we are doing now is perfect. When we play weakish teams yes run the ball and go mad but against these 2 awesome sides you need to grind out victories.

Not sure why people think spreading the ball out wide will result in the mauling of the aussies and all blacks. It results in loses for us because they are so solid on defense. Keep them under pressure and away from our tri line rather than try play pretty rugby i reckon.

Yup, NZ were complaining about our boring, winning, kicking game.

They're now bringing in Carter so that they can play a boring, winning, kicking game.
They will no doubt call it thrilling AB rugby.
