Well he is not exactly making 9 changes, so i cannot see how it can so horribly wrong as it did against the lions.

You love ruan so much maybe he will suit the position better than F steyn, without testing it against the best we will never know.

Same diff ......... if you have a working team, don't fiddle with it. Ruan has played Fullback waaaay to few times to be comfy there so why not just leave Frans there and play the two 10's as is.

Not sure and you may be correct but you wanted ruan instead of steyn in the team so i worry :D

Just playin, yea well we will see how it plays out. You say what if it does not work right?

I say what if it does work? Could we win all 6 games then possibly with an even stronger team?

Oh I never said outright that it won't work .... it may be the best thing since sliced bread. All I'm worried about is certain coaches (and especially PdV) tendency to experiment at crucial times.

I just walked in and I had been wondering if the discussion would be had about Ruan being included in the starting 15.... it seems there are more people than just Meph and I who see his value. And it's the ones that count... the coaches!

I agree though that it is not really fair that he is going to be tested in yet another position, which can only really be a lose, lose situation from the perspective of the anti-Ruan brigade. If he does well they'll say "you see he is much better at full back than flyhalf", if he has a bad game they will say "you see we told you he is a crap player"...

The fact that he is so versatile I think goes some way towards proving what we have been saying about how talented he is. If Morne was as talented they could then just stick him at fullback and use him from there for his kicking skills....

There was NO anti Ruaan brigade/debate. You had a lone anti Morne' Steyn crusade at the wrong time and place and thus endured a deserved lashing from the people that knew different. Lets see how many tries will slip through in the first 20 minutes of the game akin to the last time Ruaan replaced Francois.

There you go, as predicted some of the anti-Ruan brigade are already jumping on the bandwagon and rooting for his failure. Unfortunately for them any try that slips through Ruan's defences would in all likelihood have come through Morne's first!

And it's rather bizarre because I cannot recall getting a "lashing" from anyone. :)

But perhaps let's rather keep Ruan vs Morne out of this thread.

Really bizzarre Sir as you started the Ruan/Morne' by virtue of your post

Lets take notes:

So who refered back to or carried his gripe forward by reference to the other discussions in this thread?
Who directly compared the two as can be seen in your post?

Thank YOU Sir!

There is an interesting article on Sport24, not sure if you have seen it :

There is no doubt Ruan is immensely talented. It would be a waste to not have him somewhere on the field. Further to this Frans is going to Europe, so PdV may be looking for a replacement as he seems to prefer local players.

I have heard talk, and agree, that we may well see Ruan and Morne switching positions every so often on Saturday. With Ruan coming into the position in attacking positions to show off his attacking skills and get the ball to the wings and Morne playing the role when tactical kicking is required.

I feel for Frans, he was just finding his feet at Fullback and now he gets benched ...... not to mention poor old Ruan being told to make himself a Flyhalf by the very same guy who is now putting him at Fullback  Then also, do we really need to be experimenting with the Tri-Nations trophy in sight? It could work wonders but it could backfire splendidly.

Feel for Frans too. I didn't think he'd done badly. In fact I thought he was improving game by game and his tough approach from the back is going to be missed.

For me the 'Human Mule' can feel a bit aggrieved. :(

I like Ruan but he should have been asked to prove himself and not just thrust into the deep end so soon.

Nope, don't need articles, have an opinion. ;)

2 days to go.....
Waiting for this game is almost as bad as quitting smoking:(:(

Wanted to call them Sheep Shaggers but, you know, that would be nasty

Nah, not when you talk about the Wannaby's ................ I mean Wallaby's. C'mon man, go read their sites and see what they say! :D

Tell me ... what do they say? Better still can we go post there and raise hell?
