KB 938979, aka the "performance and reliability" update, addresses "poor memory management performance," as well as a handful of specific issues, including a nasty problem installing printers when User Account Control is disabled. Also gone is the ever-so-annoying networking flaw that would strike TCP/IP dead after a computer wakes from hibernation, and offline file synchronization is reportedly fixed, according to the release notes.

KB 938194, also known as the "compatibility and reliability" update, should probably be called the "now you can play games with your computer" update. It purports to address a handful of gaming-related problems, including compatibility issues with NVIDIA's G80 series of cards. The lame printer spooling bug that was afflicting many of you has also been addressed.

Aah its out of beta :D Excellent, except that I'm on XP again.

So anyone using the SP1 beta yet? It's hard to get...
 
ek haar vensters,you should of made a dual boot man,I cant stress enough,in my personal opinion,i would have 2 harddrives and dual boot.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like it will have more features/fixes, like XP's SP2. They say the "beta" is out and testing with MS, so it shouldn't just be updates.

It will at least include this pack... but I changed to XP because I wanted my soundcard back. Still no drivers from M-Audio.

I was thinking of dual-booting.. but not much point, I'll go back to Vista if I get drivers, I don't have any problems with it at all besides that.

My m-audio was also the only thing that didn't work otherwise everything works perfectly for me
 
arrhhh,I downloaded the validation tool in firefox browser and everything is now A ok.Strange that ie7 dont give me a option to download the active x validation tool,but firefox does
 
I have a c media audio card that takes up the space of 2 pci slots as it has digital inputs/spdf/auxillary/dat stuff.Vista does not see it this way,but i can live with it,as all i need is my 6.1 working and this is fine.
 
I was really hoping this latest patch would fix some of my issues. Nada. Nothing. Nix.
The only improvement I saw was faster transfer times when copying and pasting files.

That would be about my only problem, so I'm happy. :)

What else were you hoping for? You've still got SP1 to look forward to, but imo this might be bigger for some people, depends what all goes into SP1.

The release notes for the compatibility and reliability update mentions numerous fixes, especially for GPU related issues. I'm having a hard time getting some of my older games to run. I really thought this would fix it. :(
