Official Vox DSL feedback thread

Not sure, but my latency is well above 200ms whenever I try to play with friends in the UK. 224 up to 290... And I get that annoying warning message on the right of my screen.
Do report back what's it's like with the VPN please.

Vox told me it's because of SAT-3 and when I asked why it's been like this since November the person stopped replying. I will message them again after the break is fixed so they have no excuses anymore.

This is not on their DSL accounts only, their fibre accounts seem to have increased latency to London as well. Someone i know use to get 141 to London now gets like 150+ so they have taken a near 10ms increase as well

Once my fibre is installed I will just move ISP and sell my 400GB account to someone and peace out.

I'm on Fibre with Vox but same issue, unreliable EU latency on rocket league (160ms, 190ms, 230ms), twitch buffering at 360p. The line was amazing when I first got fibre, 140-150ms to EU, they definitely changed something around November and everything went to ****, been complaining with tech support ever since but it falls on deaf ears or gets blamed on upstream providers. Also planning on waiting till cable is fixed before final complaint then ISP change.

Both breaks have been fixed so back to complaining we go.

Edit: I feel like I'm getting somewhere:

"The request has been assigned to one of our Advanced engineers to attend."
"I can confirm that your traffic is currently being routed via EASSY."
"Our engineer is currently investigating the route."

Vox is going via East, either Seacom (unlikely) or EASSy/WACS
Afrihost going via West, either SAT3/WASC

They told me EASSy.

I think I found someone that actually wants to help, I have a reference number and they immediately emailed me and asked me to ping and tracert a couple of IPs they gave me.

It definitely sounds like they want to help.

HAHA RIGHT!
I logged a ticket earlier, provided ping tests and traceroutes showing 180-190ms (along with stating I get 230ms often too), this is the reply I got later on after escalation:

"Closed: Good day

This is acceptable Latency to overseas gaming servers.

Thank you"

That's sealed it then. Won't be sticking around for 180ms+ pings. Now the fun of the cancellation procedure.

The person I got was super helpful, didn't ask any nonsense of are you using a cable etc, we talked I told him what's up and he said okay yeah he sees I'm being routed via EASSy and they will look at it for me.

But I'm getting fibre soon anyway and Vox's FUP sucks so I'm probably moving to Afrihost anyway.

The initial support guy was extremely helpful, emailed him all the pings/tracerts. But once the issue gets escalated to senior support, it always comes back unchanged.

This is the response I got when reporting twitch buffering issues last year:
"Resolution:
link has been tested with the upstream provider and it has been confirmed that the Link is up and speeds are testing fine. "
Bullshit, the link was not fine, it was still buffering and unstable but you still receive that crap from them.

Let me know when you do switch over to Fibre. Looks like I'll be stuck on VDSL for some time to come.

Would love to be first in line for that 400gb account of yours if you're going to be parting with it. :D

If no one I know wants it I will let you know, they said they want to have the first houses up by end of March.

You called it, one of the engineers contacted me this morning and basically said it's ADSL so it's best effort, maybe I should contact Telkom to ask them to check my line.

So that's that then, Afrihost here I come.

All I want is for him to say look dude just between you and me we don't want to buy capacity on WACS for everyone because EASSy is cheaper so we use that for everyone North.

Edit:

"There was no active decision made and no routing changes made from JHB outbound internationally.
JHB traffic has always routed via EASSy, unless there is a preferred route via WACS/SAT3."

I told him to just close the ticket. I'm out, even if I wasn't getting fibre I'd move ISP.
