Official Vox DSL feedback thread

So East London is fine but Jhb and Cape Town are bad, could be a routing issue.

Could their servers then. VOX been running fine tonight. Been gaming and streaming all night , no problems.

You cant say that.
Just because it is fine for you in EL has absolutely no baring on conditions in Pretoria.
So far tonight people from Jhb, Pta and CT have complained about streaming on Netflix and other servers.

We are happy that you can watch Netflix at 1080P but not all of us can.
Go back to watching TV and stop trolling the Forum with you "Pull up the ladder Jack" type remarks.

I just had a Telkom Tech at my house. According to him my line is running perfect. He used his Telkom log in details of course as well as his personal account. He tested the line with my CW account and got a putrid response below 1mb. Honestly regret getting rid of my Afrihost Account for this **** from CW, their ping is way higher compared to Vox. Now the thing is I have been having throughput issues with both Vox and CW lately. I am in Cape Town. To Vox's defense they have been calling me daily to assist but I asked them to hold off until Telkom comes. My question now is, is this an ISP problem because streaming DSTV even buffers. The Telkom Tech suggested that I should get me a Mweb or a Telkom account.

I have an idea that it also partly due to routing errors.
I brought this up with VOX over a year ago but nothing happend so I just gave up.
When using speedtest.net, I am in cape town and testing to the local test servers, a lot of them have higher ping rates.

My average ping to Exchange is 18-20ms for my 20Mbps VDSL2 connection.

To most of the local test servers I get 18-20ms.
BUT there are a number of them that FAR exceed this, average 36-50ms. Examples are to Telkom SAIX 45ms, Vodacom 39ms, MTNSA 39ms, Cell C 36ms, Telkom Internet 39ms, RSAWEB 36ms.
These ping rates are similar to what I get when doing a test to servers in Johannesburg, example MWEB Johannesburg 36ms

Throughput is good mostly getting full speed, but pings are higher.
So why are some of the local test server ping with rates as if they are routing to/via Johannesburg?

Example of good routing. Vox

Example of problematic routing. Telkom SAIX

Example of Normal Routing. Johannesburg MWEB

And for comparison, I did a test run to the same servers but using my Afrihost Unshaped Capped Account.

Vox.

Telkom SAIX.

Johannesburg MWEB.

Does anyone at Vox seem to care that the online CC payment facility is broken, It fails when I have to do the 3d secure section...

Now I have to send their accounts department a mail with my proof of payment attached, only for them to respond after 3 days...

Hi

I need a 2nd ISP for a back up account. Decided on the 100Gb Capped Vox Fatpipe for now.

I however emailed them 3 times in the last 3 weeks to find out about the setup fee in the T&C's. Do not get any response.

Can someone on here maybe shed some light on the setup fee?

tia

I think it was R50 when I signed up a few years ago. Not sure why they still have it.

Yes me as well, since last night, all devices keep on having the issue on my home network. Everywhere you have to click refresh or reload multiple times before it works. I notified vox about the issue, they say nothing is wrong. Am glad to see I am not the only one experiencing the issue.

Yeah the issue was there last night. Extreme lag when logging into online services. Seems to be okay for now.

Had same issue earlier, now am unable to authenticate (log on). ISPAfrika account works fine, so its not the line...
