Official Vox DSL feedback thread

Mmm - great to have the problems acknowledged, not great because IPC upgrades take months, not days.

This is the unfortunate part. We could say they should have foreseen the increased capacity requirement, but hindsight is always 20/20. The differentiating factor with Vox for me is the data roll over at the moment. Had to use quite a bit of data (for reasons) lately, so it really helped having that data saved up. But it really is crawling now :( Hope some IPC capacity gets added to the Eastern Cape / southern region...

Same boat - have a ridiculous number of rollover gigs built up over two accounts, both of which I got on one of the special offers. Might be worthwhile getting another account for general usage, and keep Vox for downloading purposes until they complete the upgrades.

Thinking the same... or as someone pointed out in another Vox thread... get another ISP account, save up the roll over until IPC is fixed... then really give it horns!

O dear! I hate IPC capacity excuses. We all warned them about all their specials and Friday Frenzy deals and now... Now they have more customers than their network can handle... Showmax can't stream for *^%# on my 4mb account! My issue is I can't run to another ISP because soon everyone here jump ship and that ISP also get IPC issues. Story of SA's ISP business models...

So, thinking of joining the masses.
I want to migrate my entire line and everything to Vox. R699 for a 10mb line unshaped, uncapped is a good deal to me.
Can someone comment on the quality of this deal? Also, is it a 24 month contract or month to month?

Code:
10Mbps uncapped:
At 150GB consumed (30% of soft cap) – drop speed to 5Mbps
At 300GB consumed (60% of soft cap) – drop speed to 2Mbps
At 500GB consumed (100% of soft cap) – drop speed to 1Mbps until end of month

How much data do you use per month.

mmm .... Probably about 300GB but I may go higher than that because of the 10mb thing. So might want to stream HD videos on YouTube for about 6 hours a day.
I hate this 'uncapped, unshaped' wording if they are then going to 'softcap' you... really now.

You can't expect the world for R699, the line itself is R425 which doesn't leave very much for data.

Yep. Good point. Perhaps use it for streaming as a primary account and then I have another account for Nighttime surfing.
My concern is that once I sign up, if i am not happy, can i cancel and switch back to Telkom (no comment) at the drop of a hat?

New Telkom ADSL line transfer policy will cause downtime

That's why most of us prefer to keep our line with Telkom, then you can switch ISP as much as you want, also 10Mbps from Vox and Telkom are the same price. Afrihost have the 10Mbps line for R399, but do you really want to save R26 and maybe one day in the future have up to 30 days downtime?

Yeah I have seen MANY a thread about Afrihost and their service. Even with the new network infrastructure. I'll go with Telkom and see how it goes.

Thanks for your help.

Vox team

I have been experiencing bad speeds with my Showmax streaming.

Are you experiencing any issues? When I access Showmax with Afrihost it is all good.

So the problem is with my Vox account.

My netflix streaming has also been bad these past few days. Very intermittent.

Anyone else having issues tonight? Can't seem to sustain a download connection for long.

For example on a speed test it starts off well but midway it just stops receiving data. Constant pinging does not show any packet loss.

You would be better of asking "Anyone NOT having issues tonight" - Read back the last couple of pages.
