Official Vox DSL feedback thread

How recent? Possibly a year ago yes. I cannot recall if this problem persisted before the upgrade, or I probably did not notice.

Just asking because I had a similar issue after I got a TP Link router some time ago, and it was fine, until I upgraded to 8Mb/s. After troubleshooting, it was the router and I got a D-Link 2740U and it was fine.

Just putting it out there.

Also, is your line actually physically disconnecting, or is it only bothering you because there are too many sessions shown to your liking?

Because of your own activity though or random disconnects?

Now I need a method to troubleshoot. Determine whether it's the modem or line.
Probably the day my power went out and that other time Vox broke for a couple of minutes.

The last one before we were disconnected earlier was active from the 15th until today.

It actually disconnects. Started bothering me and hence begun investigating.
While I'm streaming on my TV, it disconnects and I can see the router actually blinking suddenly trying to establish adsl first and then ISP connection. Seems as if the router has been restarted.
I guess first step would be to obtain a router to try for a week or so.

oh wow, many thanks for your offer bud, much appreciated though.

Sorry I did not check if someone has suggested this yet - check your pots filters they can cause disconnects if faulty.

Many thanks, I guess it will be a matter of elimination. I will start with using another router for a week and then the POTS filter. Just for interest, see image:
So it happens everyday, mostly odd hours, so I do not notice. I only notice at night sometimes when im streaming or on weekends when im at home and it happens 2/3 times a day.

Anyone experiencing high latency ever since this "maintenance"? Getting 240ms to European servers in games whereas I used to get +-190, and in CSGO I'm getting a stable 89ms whereas I used to get 55-65ms.

I checked on my Afrihost test account and the problem only happens on Vox.

I am unable to do any gaming to EU with VOX, high latencies and lots of spikes. I use WA for gaming and the latencies are around 180 to 190ms vs Vox's 250ms to 280ms.

Is this only a recent thing for you? Since about the 29th of August?

The problem seems to come and go very sporadically for me. Had about 2 days of it being perfect, but now the ping can jump from around like crazy in the space of minutes and it's impossible to predict. One speedtest will give 186ms to EU, then 5 minutes later another speedtest to the same server will be 270ms.

Vox's tech support guys don't know what's cracking, reckon my line is giving issues - which I know can't be the case because my Afrihost test account works flawlessly on the same line. They claim that any ping issues outside of South Africa are beyond their control, which makes no sense at all, so now I must just live with it? Everything was fine up till about a week ago. :crying:

All the help they can offer is telling me to reset my router... which I've done about 10 times so far with no difference in performance.

As of yesterday, speedtest is finding me back in Durban.

Anyone having an issue with slow Netflix streaming? Seems to have started over the last few days for me.
