Official Web Africa thread

I have been having issues with my ADSL too for sometime.Dont think it was related to what the previous guys are facing though
Finally fixed thanks to Mujeeb @WA and Faiek @Openserve. Running at proper speeds again,as reported on my modem+ speedtests

Hi WA. We're wanting to upgrade home ADSL to the fastest speed but can't seem to find the packages on your site?

Thank you MightyQuin.

Would we need a new router? Still using a Billion Bipak one - it's a few years old.

Our ADSL has been stable (so far) so I'll upgrade and see how it goes before hopping onto fibre.

The website is rubbish, I have a telkom line with data from a different ISP, ask's me to put in my address (even though I selected data only) says im not covered, even though I am, cant purchase data (ADSL mind you)

eish.

I just hope that you are not too far from the exchange. Even though 40Mp may be possible, distance from exchange effects stability.

Then i click "check availability" cuz i cant do anything else - type my address, "we dont cover your area"

Hmmmm, we might be too far for 40. Will increase in baby steps and find out which speed works best.

WebAfrica Reps see this thread and escalate this to your engineering team (if you have one, that is) because this crap is now out of hand.

.... Exactly the same problem in PE in the evenings from around 6pm.

Trace Routes timeout to many websites which simply won't resolve or are slower than dial-up from the 90's.

In the morning it's fine again.

For ****s and giggles: News24 wouldn't resolve or load at all last night, and Facebook wouldn't load any images.

Started around 2 weeks ago with the Openserve F***-up or whatever it was.

Need to post this in the main WebAfrica support thread so they can sort it out.

This is BS now.

Edit: to me it seems some peering and routes are stuffed on the network. Home Capped user who has never had a day's issue for over 2 years so this sort of thing goes HIGHLY noticed.

Just moved house and signed up for webafrica fibre and while waiting for the install webafrica lte, as I do a lot of work from home and need a good fast connect for VC’s etc.
Lte router arrives set it up, call support... 45 minutes on hold. Then they hang up, call again, try reception - no answer. Try support again, 15 min no answer. The only people to answer are sales. Sales say they do not have supervisors or managers at webafrica that I can talk to??!!

Log ticket. 48 hours later no response.

Call accounts and tell them I would please like someone to contact me can they arrange this? “Yes of course, we will get support to call you immediately” 24 hours later nothing.
Call again say please have management call me or I will need to look for another ISP. “Yes of course, someone will call you immediately”.

That was 8h30 this morning, I have just cancel my fibre order and lte order.

Warning to all.

Webafrica is quick to pick up the phone at sales, but don’t expect after sales service.

Very very disappointed. Taking my money elsewhere.

Be warned guys there are better ISP’s out there.
