Oh boy...

I've never been charged yet. Let's hope it stays that way. Is this the first time they are charging you?

Yes, they are now charging mercurial, I wouldn't push them anymore... we've been lucky over the last few months - now they are going to nail us.

Did they give you any prior warnings about usage abuse?

Quite a few months ago, and I'm talking, say, January, I got a call from Telkom telling me that I'm doing ALOT of local and that I 'might' be charged.
So I stopped and wasn't charged.

It's quite a few months LATER and I am doing NOTHING compared to what I WAS doing and they charged me.

I don't think my friend got any sort of warning and he got billed so yeah.

There's the problem - you are still going over your limit even though they warned you. I haven't received any warnings so far so hopefully I can use that as a case against them if I do get billed. Could you perhaps ask your friend if he was warned? I remember kevinswan007 saying that he was warned. I think they warn before issuing.

you cant say you were not warned.
i was warned by telkom (got a phone call) and I stopped going over my local cap
at the end of the day, i dont have money to pay a R2000 bill, so I stopped myself.

Hi guys,

I just spoke to Herman Potgieter who is the Product Manager for Telkom.

Please note the following;
1. They are charging, BRACE YOURSELF! :mad: Some will get their bills sooner than others!

1.1. Herman laughed when he explained the story about sending out bills to those users who had done 400GB ;)

2. They are sending out notifications to your @telkomsa.net (remember, they don't know you use @gmail accounts or whatever account) accounts so if you don't have it setup, well, its up to you to set it up.

3. They are trying to find ways of protecting their uses from going overboard, Herman himself said he took it upon himself to contact "HIGH USAGE" (nice to know I do something right) users and inform them (there was a grace period - but you don't know this! ;) )

Nope, they send out communication about the local usage to your 'telkom' email address as well as put the WARNING on the TI tracker.

This excuse won't fly... When I mentioned this to Herman, he said, he knows they send out as much communication as they can, at the end of the day, they have done their bit by putting the warning on the TI tracker as well as on the e-mails that account users all have.

Have fun Merc getting yourself outta that ;)

Oh, 1 more thing;

Herman spends alot of time on MyBB - he is just not registered here! :)
I did ask him to register and speak up, warn us, but he just laughed at me, so I don't know what that meant.

mercurial, he is probably WAITING for YOUR phone call! hahaha ;)

Telkom is so slowing in issuing bills its unbelievable sometimes. I have had a bill of around R1500 for about three months now. All I do is see how much i paid last month, take that away from what I owe and then just pay the difference. It happens with the electricity account too, the payment isnt recorded until after the due date and so the system thinks it has not been paid.
And don't worry about interest. Charging 5% on an amount for 1 out of 12 months is too much of a complicated calculation for them. :p

kevin i was reading on nzbmatrix forums that some okes are pulling 6 tb's a month

the most i saw was 10 tb's and about 35 tb's in 4 months

you think 400gb is crazy u have no idea what crazy is until you see internationals usage
