Did you turn the monitor on ?:D But seriously post the issue in the PC section rather than ISP/

:D ofcourse i did ! i even put on the dstv to make sure the lcd was working fine.

a few things...

1) The latest uTorrent version has been banned by many trackers for unequal sharing tactics, rather download the official BitTorrent client or a different one (anything except Azureus).
2) You will get better speeds if you forward your ports, the easiest way to do that is to put your router into bridge mode and create a pppoe connection on your PC and dial-up to that.
3) disconnect everything on the PC, leave it off for ten minutes, then open it up and re-seat the Graphics card (push it down properly). Then re-connect everything. Try that.

Post the make and model of your ADSL router and your Windows Version and we will try and explain the procedure to you.

There are three basic modes that you can set up on your router...

a) PPPoE mode - you put your ISP settings into the router and it creates the connection for you.
b) full-bridge mode - your router goes into "dumb" mode and all PPPoE connections are created on the computer.
c) half-bridge mode - you enter some PPPoE settings into the router which become the default connection, but at the same time you can create PPPoE connections on your computer which when activated will dial through the router (ignoring the default connection) and create a separate connection to another ISP.

Also let us know which ISP you are using and if you are using more than one.

windows xp service pack 2 and isp is mweb

OK, so you know how to log into the router?
http://www.billion.com/_Internet/usermanual/BIPAC5200seriesUM.pdf

Assuming you can now see what is on the screen...

1) Open up your Web Browser
2) Type in the address 192.168.1.254
3) Enter Username: admin and password: admin
4) Click on Interface Setup and then choose Internet - see page 34 of the PDF manual.
5) You want to change the encapsulation to RFC1483 Bridged
6) Save the settings and reboot the router.

Once you have the router in bridged mode... the go to your PC and follow these instructions...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283070

Create a PPPoE client connection
You can install the PPPoE client just like you install any other dial-up networking connection. To create a PPPoE client connection, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network and Internet Connections.
2. Click Network Connections, and then click Create a new connection in the Network Tasks pane.
3. After the Network Connection Wizard starts, click Next.
4. Click Connect to the Internet, and then click Next.
5. Click Set up my connection manually, and then click Next.
6. Click either Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password or Connect using a broadband connection that is always on.
7. Type the Internet service provider (ISP) name that your ISP provided, and then click Next.
8. Type the user name that the ISP provided.
9. Type the password that the ISP provided.
10. Type the password one more time to confirm it, and then click Next.
11. Click Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.
12. Click Finish to complete the wizard.

You should now be able to dial up from your PC to Mweb (tunneling through the router).

thank gary, will print that out and try it this afternoon
