Tried mweb and saol accounts, cant get to ati for driver download, msn icq and all the usual stuff that requires a line to the world beyond Telkom is f*cked

SAOL here... Browsing seems fine, as for P2P... wont connect. I dropped connection of my MSN Messenger on one of my other pc's, won't connect...

Seems that there problems with Gmail are being expereinced world wide...

So don't take up a Gmail account just yet if you are offered one - all my e-mail and addresses are in there and I cannot get into the site.

Anway, I suppose we can rule that out as a local problem.

The MSN "Service Status" link reports all systems up and running and my friends in the USA tell me that they can log in to MSN. So this must be a local connection problem. Is Telkom's shaping going all out of whack and shaping the wrong things???
 
Oh, BTW, Skype seems to working fine in the midst of all of these problems! Thank goodness for that.

I bought one of those R299.00 generic USB phones from Matrix computers and it works like a dream with Skype. Sorry to go OT.

the dual phone is pretty cool works wonderfully! cordless as well and well yeah ..
 
R999, and well its cordless and a normal phone and you can get it from IC or The phone shop in Sandton... or perhaps any other phone shop.....of you can try Future IT they are the local suppliers in JHB, and you can ask for Dave, you will probably get a better price from them...as they are the distrubuters and wont be asking retail like prices

yup guys - it seems to be Telkoms sat3 link thats f*****

I just changed to my IS account and i'm back on MSN messenger, getting mail of my international servers and getting international sites fine again....

and to all those "IS is on sat and sat sucks" people - suck on this: i'm connected, you aint ;)

at this rate i'll never use up my cap on my TelkomInternet account :mad:
 
Well sat does suck compared to sat3 cable (interms of latency etc.), but Telkom runs that cable so it seems to have more problems than IS/Iburst sattelite.
If I ever had 3 nights of no international i would be amped to kill! Never get that on Iburst though.
