OK, here's the scoop.

From when I tested their proxy server, it appeared that the maximum it would do for uncached items was 5.25Kb/s. Once it's cached, it would go at the full 50Kb/s on DSL.

Doing the test now, yields much the same result regardless of whether it's cached or not.

Thus something between us, and that cache is messing up.

Hmmm. I guess this is the final proof that us users aren't abusing their upstream bandwidth.

It is cached by the netcache, as the "Age:" header indicates. (Netcache adds that to indicate to the user how long the item has been in cache).

Yet it still comes down at a snails pace.

The means, that quite frankly according to Sentech's own statement we are not getting the "more than 128k to the provider's equipment".

interesting...

did you try and download something not cached? to see if the bandwidth is a bit better though on uncached stuff (like p2p)?

Help save the bandwidth. Decent download speeds for TheRodent! Stop downloading now!!!

Well, my modem couldn't receive any signal last night so it would seem that I've been set free. Thx for busting their balls Rodent, without all the efforts made by you and others on this forum we'd probly end up being shafted for 2 years.

I'm not a MyWireless user, due to scepticism when it was launched and that it doesn't cover my area yet, but have been keeping my eyes on developments and I have to give TheRodent a HUGE pat on the back for his investigation! Not even Carte Blanche could of done better! I hope that this is a HUGE step forward for you guys currently on MyWireless. Keep us up-to-date and when the day comes that TheRodent is satisfied, then I might consider getting MyWireless.

But then, I heard about WBS and their plans for the next year ... mmmm ... I'll see.
