bandwidth is by far the most important but u know what i love the most is when u got 4 blocks of signal and bam it just disconnects. 0% signal so u like what?? then o wait the next day it comes up.. almost like when they shut off ur water, do they tell u they going to do it? nooo.. do they do it? yes.. its lovely.. very inconsistant.. towers aren't still being "TWEAKED" god forbid..

Glory Glory Man United!

It would take two or three clicks in about 30 seconds to fix.

It's about as difficult as you changing your browsers homepage from www.microsoft.com to www.google.com.

I could could probably do it and I'm a tech n00b compared to many on this forum!

500 Can't connect to 168.210.90.130:3128 (connect: timeout)

Does this mean it's closed? (didn't mean to start new topic, just meant to reply:p)

Thanks hArth, so my topic I posted about secure network was not too farfetched...although I didn't know about the proxies.
Had an idea that someone was sucking up bandwidth.

Sentech please wake up and stop blaming your own users when you can't even manage your own network properly.

yes. easily. its an access-list on the main router. basically, a firewall rule. something like:
PERMIT 66.18.0.0/255.255.0.0
PERMIT 196.34.0.0/255.255.0.0
DENY ALL

instead of
PERMIT ALL

But they should know this..

so the 168.210 address is owned/run by CustName - ICOZA - Department of Trade & Industry

Government giving it all away to the masses

It's funny (NOT) how TheRodent is called a trouble maker by Sentech. So Sentech's definition of a trouble maker is someone who demands the service he is paying for. (WTF??) TheRodent, you have my respect mate. It's about time we, as South Africans stand together and do something about corporations feeling they have the right to walk all over us.

This is indeed news-worthy - I think we should pass this story along to every media person we possibly can.

Good going mate. When you've sorted out Sentech, please move on to sorting out the dreaded Telkom.

Confirmed!!! They've changed it from open to closed in the last 15 minutes!

[}:)] <- See what the sentech techs can do with a little bit of encouragement!?

Wouldn't it be nice if they would fix all their network problems within two hours of being informed of the problem!

This story should be on the front page of every tech site and newspaper in the country!

kallie is the only person on support tonight, he's had 40 calls in the last hour or so... (my hat goes off to kallie)

according to him this is not the only problem lying with Sentech, at least they've IDENTIFIED this, but obviously he couldnt tell me what those problems was due to Sentech having his balls in a vice grip.

He also couldn't comment on the statement released by TheRodent... and yea, I got the "This TheRodent guy on MyAdsl..." thing...

dude, you're famous!

Help save the bandwidth. Decent download speeds for TheRodent! Stop downloading now!!!

Omg this is so stupid. I feel Sentech owes Us, its customers, an official apology on their website or are they to High and mighty to talk to us directly, wait too late, it seems Michelle potgieter and Marcal Raath have joined the forum. http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=2042 and http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=2043 .

Yup suspect they turned off both sides of the proxy for a while, but hey we're learning.

Downloading a software update from Canadia, speed has gone from 12-14kbps to 20-21, so hey things are improving. Only 502 mins to go, on my Pipex line in London the last download took 30 mins...

Is anyone else experiencing improvements in speed since proxies have been closed?

Noone, no it's not the only problem 'lying' with S... tonight, that is the problem it would seem.

Don't think anyone has checked whether their routers are routing or simply passing all traffic everywhere, as in 'switches, we don't need switches, hubs are cheaper and they do the same thing' ...

Rodent, when you have a spare moment.....
